Post subject:  TH2G - 59Hz and i7 core questions

Ok, so I have been around the TH2G and setup many of them, but all on Intel Core 2 Duo systems and using 57Hz compatible monitors. I've been off playing in Eyefinity land for a little while and am now coming back to the TH2G, after keeping the pulse warm for a while.

After reading some threads, can anyone confirm the following?

1. TH2G will now work at 5040 x 1050 x 59Hz and therefore there are no restrictions on 57Hz monitors anymore?
2. TH2G can and does work using a Core i7 CPU at 5040 x 1050 (ie CPU is not a restriction anymore - some threads suggest this is the case now whereas earlier it was thought there was a link)?
3. Does anyone know if the TH2G is moving to support 16:9 resolutions as 16:10 monitors become harder to find (for future proofing)?

Any answers to the above would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Tim

In regards to #2, yes 5040x1050 can work, provided I use the 182.50 vista drivers for my Windows 7 x64 install, and the latest Matrox software. I do get black screen when it tries to apply the resolution, but a reboot later and desktop shows 5040x1050 rez. IMO CPU has no relevance at all, it's purely OS, Matrox Software, and GPU / GPU driver.

I run the the 191.07 Nvidia drivers on Windows 7 fine with full aero functionality which is something no i7 user has been able to achieve so far (that I have read about), so I am not convinced yet as you are another one that cannot use more current Nvidia drivers. The only argument against this is that there are other Core 2 Duo users who cannot use 191.07 drivers either, so I don't know what the story is.

I can confirm #1 using Windows 7 64-bit, EVGA GTX 285 and the latest Nvidia drivers. My 2 Samsungs used to have a brief nag screen when not running at 60Hz, not anymore though. Screenshots below!

Fantastic, thanks. By the way, what CPU are you using, out of curiosity?

running 195.62 with latest matrox software and firmware @ 59hz...

Though i will say--- i found the source of my stutter in w7.. Was the precision software from evga... Had to do with the polling and graphing... When i turned off precsision--- stutters went away.. Just a 411
