I have this problem where, out of the blue the screens change to a multicolored layout, and if there's sound it locks and stutters and the PC reboots shortly there after. This can happen right after a fresh install of W7 X64. It can also happen as soon as I reach desktop. Or if it boots cleanly to desktop it can happen right after launching first game. And sometimes the comp doesn't reboot it self afterward. It started happening after I tried last Nvidia WHQL drivers, and after that regardless of drivers or installs it ends up happening. Is the Matrox box faulty or is my GPU dying? Pic 1 Pic 2 EDIT: Just tried without the matrox box, still happens. Guess GPU is dying. Anyone know why it would do this though? |

That definitely looks like an unhappy GPU. The first thing I'd do is take it out and check that the fan is working, and it's not clogged with dust. Then make sure there's plenty of airflow in the case to rule heat out of the equation. If that doesn't work... er... sob uncontrollably? :-) Or you could try re-mounting the card's heatsink. That can be a pain in the neck though. Hopefully it will be heat-related though. Otherwise it wouldn't work properly at all. Andrew McP |

I agree looks like a GPU issue. Check what the previous posted has written, but dont take the heat sink off the card, as it would invalidate any warranty you may have. Check your warranties, most top graphics card manufactures give at least 3 years warranty. Once the above has been done, take the Matrox out of the equasion and connect the video card strait to one of you monitors and see if are getting the same error. ta |

... and if you are still seeing errors, explore your options for returning the GPU to the point-of-sale or to the manufacturer. |
