Now that prices for Zalman monitors have slumped I bought 3 ZM-M190s and a TripleHead2Go Digital for better Stereo 3D immersion. Everything works reasonably well with the IZ3D driver. However I still like the Nvidia Stereo driver more. The Nvidia Stereo driver however looks for a Zalman monitor to activate interlaced S3D. But because now the DTH2G is between the graphics card and the Zalmans it only sees a Matrox "monitor". So the driver allows only anaglyph. Does anyone have experience with changing the EDID within a DTH2G? The supplied PowerDesk SE is only able to change the 4 custom resolution slots in the DTH2G EDID. I assume I have to change the manufacturer ID, model ID and/or monitor name but dont know of a safe way to do this. |

have you tried emailing matrox? i had a look around on the internets and found very little on the subject. but it really doesnt sound like something that can be easily changed without a firmware updater, cable and apropriate knowledge. not something i am sure i would want to do :P |

I had tried Matrox Support. After twice getting told that the DTH2G is connected to my graphics card and not the monitors and then that they don't have resources for those technical questions I gave up... I've changed the DTH2Gs firmware and now everything works fine. |

Downloaded the firmware and found parts of the EDID data in four (!!) places. Changed the Manufacturer ID and Product ID Code to that of one of the Zalmans. |

Downloaded the firmware and found parts of the EDID data in four (!!) places. Changed the Manufacturer ID and Product ID Code to that of one of the Zalmans. Cool, nice job. If you have a second, could you detail what tool you used and any other info to point us in the right direction, its the type of thing someone else on the forum may need one day. Also, I had a Zalman 22" (sold it then got 2 standard monitors). How does the 3D work on all 3 monitors, arent the side monitors at the wrong angle relative to you to work correctly in 3D? I did like the effect though, much better than the old 3D Shutter glasses I had. |

Idea sketch (don't want to make Nvidia angry): 1. Connect the monitor you like the DTH2G to resemble. 2. Take an EDID reading tool and write down bytes 0x08 through 0x0B (A). 3. Connect DTH2G. 4. Download DTH2G firmware. 5. Flash to DTH2G. 6. Take an EDID reading tool and write down bytes 0x00 through 0x0B (B). 7. Unzip downloaded firmware archive. 8. Open TH*.pkg in an hex editor. 9. Search for all ocurrences of B (10 bytes). 10. Replace last four bytes of each B with A. 11. Flash the modified firmware to DTH2G. How does the 3D work on all 3 monitors, arent the side monitors at the wrong angle relative to you to work correctly in 3D? I position all three monitors on an exact line, i.e. no angling. This for example keeps road edges unbent. At least with this positioning (haven't tried any other) the polarization is not effected. The images of the left and right monitor however get very slightly reddish because TN panels are used. |
