Hello (again)
Feel free to group multiple questions in a single thread ;)

Does 1280x1024 (5:4 aspect ratio) look good on 1680x1050 monitors (16:10) ? Well, no. :( Image stretching would make it look painfully unnatural, and using correct scaling wouldn't help (thick vertical black bars everywhere = no more surround gaming, really)

Your cards are not limited to 1280x1024 though, and although 3x 1440x900 would probably look a bit blurry in typical TFT fashion, it'd look wayyy better since it's the same aspect ratio (i.e no stretching).

Hmm, I suppose screenshots would help...

The Matrox site says unsupported, not that it doesnt work at all. If you search the forum youll find this was already answered, mosty recently about 3wks ago.
