Hello,

Just recieved three vewsonic va2216w's.

Checked screens with Nvidia control panel which gave me some confusing results:

With just one screen plugged in I can test at 1680x1050 at 57hz sucsessfully.

With th2g in the mix i can test 1280x1024 at 57hz sucsessfully.

3840x1024 at 60hz or 57hz works (but if i click yes to keep it, i revert to 800x600)

and 1680 x 1050 dosn't run either.

So the screens run at 57hz, I just can't get widescreen resolutions with my TH2go ( 1680x1050 dosn't appear in the display setting)

I've reinstalled firmware/Gxm to check too.

all help gratefully recieved

Just realised I needed the expander tool, and i get the error the TH2g isn't connected. It appears fine under monitor in Device Manager.

I havn't read the forum 100% but am trying to do so now!

edit: cuba drivers didn't help me (not that they would with this issue). Am now stumped, maybe even enough for me to go and have dinner. (!)

Doesnt sound like you set up the new res with manual timings:

The Cuda drivers are just drivers, no reason to use them over 180 series. The new (and WHQL) 180 drivers (180.47) were released today, performance on the 2x0 GTX range now apparently meets or beats the ATI cards at ultra resolutions (2560x1600).

ahem. thought i'd done that... when i do that the monitors squish the image to the right hand side (leaving a black bar on the left hand side).

I also don't have 5040x1050 appearing in powerdesk -which i assume is because i can't get expand running. (can get 3x1280x800).

You wont see the 5040x1050 res in Powerdesk, its a nVidia custom res.

What drivers are you using and can you post a screen shot of your manual timings (just edit the one you have and save the screen).

Maybe check each monitor at 57Hz individually too.

Hello,

I'm using the 180.48 driver; i heard that the 173 drivers were good - if so, where can i pick up old drivers? I havn't saved one that far back and nvidia doesn't appear to archive them that far either.

For the custom res I'm copying mattsimis' values, except my horizontal scan rate is set to 61.49 when i select cvt reduced black. whist his is 60.88.

Don't have time to play with the settings myself this morning, but i'm guessing thats the issue.

Here's a screen shot of my manual timings screen as requested

I have sucsessfully tested the screens individually at 1680x1050 (without and without the th2g) at 57hz, is this all i need to test? - if so does that mean that the problem does not lie with the screens?

Testing at 57hz is usually enough, but perhaps the screens are borderline and the scan rate is tripping them up.

Im mine I get a scan rate of 60.88 if I go from AUTO timings straight to manual, but the same 61.94 as you if I go to CVT then Auto (as suggested above for other reasons). Have you tried setting up the custom res while running at 1680x1050@57hz and going from Auto to Manual directly?

Also, can you confirm you changed the monitor driver from "Generic PNP" to "Matrox Triplehead2Go Digital" in the Device Manager?

You can get the 177.41 driver and it should work "out of the box" with the Matrox Utility (uninstall it prior to installing the older nV driver then reinstall it).

http://www.google.ie/search?q=177.41&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

When you confirm the old driver works in 5040, maybe continue testing the new one. Always a better idea to start from a working base before checking if something else (ie the new drivers) works.

You haven't posted your OS but the screenshot looks like vista. I think there are issues with 180 and vista.
