Did ask on another forum, why that DTH2G uses 5040x1050 @ 57Hz , and they think it is of the chip doesn't support it, or something in the software .
For the people who can read dutch look here.

Hi all,

Comparing SoftTH and TripleHead2Go is also like comparing apples and oranges. Make sure to visit the SoftTH website and learn specifically how the software functions, you will see that the architechture is completely different from TripleHead2Go. Pointing out that SoftTH can do triple-1600x1200 does not mean specifically that TripleHead2Go should also be able to handle this resolution. There are numerous unique factors for Th2Go that need to be taken into consideration.

Thanks again,
Mark

Mark,

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

Just to be clear, the point of my original response to your customer service rep was *not* to compare SoftTH and TH2Go. They are *clearly* two different implementations of TH gaming. I, for one, chose the TH2Go over SoftTH while well aware of the 3840x1024 limitation.... but wanted the ability to utilize my SLI power; something SoftTH can't do.

The only reason I mentioned SoftTH to your rep was due to the inaccuracy of his canned response. Personally, I find it frustraing as a customer when I contact technical support for something and I end up knowing more than the guy or gal answering my question. But that is another issue entirely....

In the menatime, *please* reiterate the desire for 3x1600x1200 to your marketing and engineering staffs. As you noted, you have a VERY dedicated and enthusastic user base on this forum. Every techincal advantage makes it easier for us to evangelize for the TH2Go. :D

Thanks,

Paul

I agree with wazoo - it is disappointing to see a Matrox tech representative state something incorrectly during a technical discussion. But thanks Mark for reassuring us that Matrox is paying attention to this forum.

As far at the 30 FPS constant framerate goes, again, LCD monitors do not support 30 Hz inputs, whether or not they are interlaced or progressive. Besides, for racing sims a framerate of 40 fps minimum is desired; generally I can't noticeably tell the difference until the framrate drops below about 25 fps, but if you're getting anything less than 40 fps your brain is not getting the subtle information it needs to interpret the cars motion (understeer or oversteer) and make the corrections needed to drive on the limit without losing control.

Still waiting for someone to explain DVI blanking...

[quote]I still say 1920x1200x3 is possible, at 24-30fps in progressive it should work. Provided you can make sure the fps doesn't/barely drops, it's fast enough for all but the most touchy purist.
....I don't know about you, but 30fps is not nearly enough for me to play any shooting game at.

It is for me, I often play source games at 25-30FPS to make them atleast look nice. Its sort of the logic you hear a lot about in the audio world with upgrading to better speakers. Until you hear something of higher quality than what you have, whatever you have sounds great. Same with games, until you experience something of higher detail, larger screen and smoother graphics, 30FPS 1280x1024 on the 17" screen at medium-high settings feels great.

Without a 'th2g v2' with a redesign to fix the lack of bandwidth to pass 1920x1200x3 you have to think of what can be done with at most a software/firmware change.

The bottleneck being the 1 dual-link cable feeding the th2g you could output 1920x1080x3@30hz or so. The th2g can be made to double the frames and output 60hz, which while slow would work with most/all lcds.

I don't even have a th2g, I'm typically pessimist, yet I'm the one trying to see the positive posibilities? did I drop into the twilight zone or something ;).
