Hi players,
I am using an ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 edition to drive five 1920x1080 displays. For some reason, when creating an SLS display group, the resolution is 8000 x 900 instead of the expected 9600x1080. This is a Windows 8.1 machine, and I am using active DisplayPort to HDMI adapters. Any idea as to why the resolution isn't correct? Thanks for any tips.

I've read a little that the 5870 maxes out at 8000x8000 pixels on the SLS. Can anyone confirm this? Also, which generation cards support larger (wider) SLS and can go to 9600x1080?

huh it does?
i tought only Dx10 limits to 8000x8000 pixel and dx11 was update to 16'000x16'000
but i guess there is a hardware limit on the 5870.

Just a follow up. After upgrading the graphics cards to 7000-series cards, I get the expected resolution.

Oh, well, I can also confirm that the 5000 series cannot go over 8192x8192. I used to run 5x30" monitors in portrait (landscape wasn't even an option).

BTW, which card did you go with?

Using two VisionTek 7750 Eyefinity 6 cards. I went the cheap route to make sure the config would work and to determine some baseline "bang for buck" performance numbers.

If you're looking for some more powerful cards here's my list of cards that can do 5-6 monitors without MST Hubs: http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=24334

Although at this point, I'd say buy 290x and an MST Hub or wait until june for the 390x, and you'll probably still need an MST HUB because AMD doesn't seem interested in putting 6 miniDP on a card anymore.
