Post subject:  4 monitor eyefinity trouble [Solved]

Hi, so I'm currently doing a 4 monitor setup (3 eyefinity on the bottom and extension on top). Well at least I'm trying to recreate it.

That's the setup I was using. It was working great, but I just got a new monitor to replace my top one, because I didn't like the quality of the old one. Now, whenever I plug in the hdmi->dvi cord into my video card, the mini display port monitors stop being detected properly and I can't reset up my configuration. I'm using a 7990, with the bottom 3 monitors being all on DVIs (2 mini display ports and 1 native). If anyone can offer any help, it would be greatly appreciated! If there is any other information I can provide that would be of any help just let me know. Thanks!

I have also now tried the secondary dvi to dvi, as well as hdmi to vga adapter (which is what it was on the last monitor), and still as soon as I plug in that fourth, the mini display ports go crazy.

Would using 2 mini display ports to display port adapters instead of mini display port to vga through an active adapter be better and solve this issue? Cause I will order some if someone can confirm that it would definitely fix it. My monitors support display port.

So the swap from Dual Link DVI to Display Ports has solved my problems completely. So if you have issues with your monitors that are 2560x1440 disconnecting, or other display port issues, swap your DVI cables for Display Ports and it should be better.

Thanks for posting about your problem and the solution! Can you clarify for me a little bit? What were your original connections + any adapters versus the connections + any adapters that solved your issue?
