Here's the issue: I have three Samsung SyncMaster S27B550Vs. My computer has three outputs: HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort. I have one hooked-up through HDMI, one through VGA, and I'm trying to use the DisplayPort to enable a third monitor. The adapter plugs into the DisplayPort and gets its power from a USB port on my computer. The adapter provides a dual-link DVI (female). I'm using a dual-link DVI to HDMI to connect the adapter and my monitor. However, the display simply won't identify in Catalyst Control Center, or in the Windows display configuration page. I've tested the DVI to HDMI cord on another computer. I've tested the DisplayPort with a DP to HDMI passive cable. Both of them work. Has anyone else had trouble with a similar setup? I tried contacting Accell regarding my issue, but they're extremely hard to get a hold of. Apparently you need an account that you can only get through talking with a representative to access their firmware and downloads page. Someone please help.

This might be a silly suggestion, but I'll say it anyway since I'm not sure what combinations you've actually tried/not: Have you looked at the manual for your card to make sure you can run all 3 outputs at once? When it worked with the passive cable did you have other monitors connected? If yes, then I don't know, otherwise could be what I said before.

It's a possibility. However, that's not the issue. I'm trying to get any kind of an active DisplayPort adapter working. By any means. And this is just the one monitor. Also, when I attached the three at the same time, they all showed up, but I just couldn't enable the third one, BECAUSE I was using a passive DisplayPort cable. I have seen people with Eyefinity configurations with my card.

Ok. Have you tried other active adapters? If not maybe a friend has one you could borrow (I know eyefinity setups are still uncommon)? That's about all I can suggest other than trying your adapter on another card if you can. You could always try the AMD forums if you haven't already, but I can't think of anything more to suggest. Sorry. Hopefully someone else will.

BTW powered from USB sounds nice. My adapter was not only ludicrously expensive, but it's also mains powered (rats nest++).
