| Post subject: | 9 monitors on 1 computer? |
hi, my friend wants me to build him a new top of the line computer. i should start by saying that there is a unlimited budget. motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131818&Tpk=13-131-818 basically he wants 9 monitors. he specified eyeinfinity, but since that maxes out at 6 monitors, we were thinking of running 2 HD7970 in crossfire mode for the 6 main monitors, then add a 3rd graphics card for the other 3 as a extended desktops. is this possible to do? |

Sure it is! but why would you do that ? You can't run a 3x3 Eyefinity with different GPU's ! Oh, but you can use 36 Screens. Thats a nice Thread.. Especially that post! 3x3 ! |

well he is a day trader, and wants 9 screens for when hes trading, and wants to be able to use eyeinfinity to stretch the desktop across 6 screens for when gaming. and since nvidia seems to only be able to handle 3 monitors in a group, this seemed like the best way to go. however i am making sure this config will be ok for high performance gaming at that resolution of 6 screens before buying all the stuff. although he has no budget limit so if someone has a better recommendation i am all ears. thanks for the info |

Ahhhh. okay.. So you're using a 3x2L Setup for gaming and 3 Extended Monitors! well performance wise you'll need a 7970 CF, else you wont get decent FPS. for Connections you have to get an Asus DirectCU II or a MSI Lightning! 4x Mini Displayport +2xDVI. Not sure if 2560*1440 works. I would reccomend 1920*1080 Screens! Else 6 of em gets to much pixel in total ^^ And make sure to get Monitors with nativ Displayport connector! To much hassel with adapters! for the 2nd gpu any gpu that can connect 3 monitors (no Nvidia ?) will do. 7750 or such. |
