| Post subject: | Best way to connect 7970 |
I just purchased a MSI R7970 Lightning Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127670 I have 3 ASUS VE276Q Black 27" 1920X1080 2ms http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236091 Was wondering what the best way to hook them up would be I am assuming 6ft 32AWG Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable - White x3 http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246&cs_id=1024606&p_id=6007&seq=1&format=2 If those aren't the best way could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks a bunch. |

Absolutly best way! You Could use 2x DVI + 1x Mini DP -->DP but if you use 3x mini DP-->DP you get the benefit that the GPU might downclock to idle 300mhz core and 150mhz Vram! If you use 1 DVI + something else the gpu will automatically clock to 500mhz idle ! But you're powering 3 Monitors with one GPU... so maybe 300mhz (core... and 150mhz Vram) won't be enought and it's gonna clock up to ..... i have no idea... maybe 400... maybe 500 mhz core clock and 1375mhz Vram. |

Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and ordered 3 of the cables. I was thinking of running another monitor over top in a 3x1 + 1 i guess it would be called. I would be connecting that one via DVI. It doesnt have a display port input. |
