First, I've been searching for hours trying to find previous threads on various websites about this. I've gotten close looking here but I wasn't completely sure, so I decided to make an account to ask. Reason being, everyone has different monitors and different cards, its hard to find someone exactly the same as you.

Pretty straightforward questions. I just want to get this right the first time so I don't have to return things.

I have a Radeon 5970, which has 2 DVI ports and a Mini DisplayPort. I currently have 2 monitors hooked up to it, an Alienware AW2210 and a Dell U2211h, both hooked via the DVI connections. I wanted to purchase another U2211h so I would have 3 monitors, but I would have to use the miniDP. That's where I am confused. The Dell U2211h has a normal DP (Not mini) input. Would it be as simple as buying a MiniDP ---> DP cable? Or would I have to purchase an active miniDP ---> DVI adapter in order to get a working eyefinity setup? Or is it something else I am missing completely?

Any help would be appreciated.

You can go and buy a simple miniDP to DP cable and be peachy.

Yup, just buy a miniDP-DP cable and you'll be fine.

Okay, thanks guys. I thought I read one person say that wouldn't work, which didn't really seem to make sense. None of those cables have any "Eyefinity Approved" badges or similar, but they do show up on the AMD website. So I'll take the chance because they are much cheaper than the adapters anyway.
