Hi Guys,

First time posting here but actually did a fair amount of research when building my new machine (see sig), finally had a chance to set everything up last night so I have crossfire 6970's, 2 monitors hooked up via DVI and the other via active sapphire DP to DVI, installed cat 11.10 drivers, and the CAP4 profiles and everything seemed to be running great until I enabled eyefinity.

Funnily enough the monitor using the DP works perfectly, however whichever monitor is connected to the bottom DVI input (have swapped the cables to test) has some strange kind of artifacts come up but only when eyefinity is enabled. I seem to get some green pixels that surround 3D images... so any games, some of the desktop, etc. And then the monitor begins to kind of refresh itself every 4 seconds of being on, turns off, then on and so on....

I haven't had the most time to look into the issue, but you guys are the experts and thought someone may have had a similiar issue. I am thinking that it is the drivers seeing as they all work great when not in eyefinity, but I am new it all and hence being here :~

Thanks for any help.

My first thought is a faulty video card. But, you say you swapped the cables around. Have you also tested that DVI port with one of the other monitors to see if the problem migrates to the other monitor, too? That would likely isolate whether it's a possible faulty port on the video card.

That was my thought as well, but when eyefinity is not enabled that connected monitor appears to work perfectly. Does the signal or anything change when turning eyefinity on?

I think I will remove the current drivers and reinstall, if that doesn't work I might just swap the two cards around and see if there is a difference.

One thing I would try at this point is to remove all of the monitors from Device Manager and make sure to select to uninstall any drivers by checking the checkbox for that. Reboot and then let Windows redetect your monitors and install the monitor drivers. You could even check the manufacturer's site for any updated drivers for Windows 7 for the connected monitors.

Swapping the cards around is a good idea, too. I'd do that fairly early in any troubleshooting.

What kind of AMP rating is on the PSU for your +12V rail/s? I'd say anything less than the mid-20s would spell some trouble and would personally prefer something in the 30-range. And, depending on your PSU, can you separate the power connections to the two video cards? It could very well be that there's a power problem when enabling Eyefinity + Crossfire. Have you tried Eyefinity without Crossfire to see if the problem persists?

Looks like it was a video card issue, swapped the cards and it now works perfectly.... strange that it only occurs when eyefinity is on, but is going well now.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Since you isolated it to the one video card, I'd report the issue to the manufacturer and/or the distributor where you got it and ask for a RMA. If the card is faulty, it should be no problem getting a replacement. Good luck!
