| Post subject: | Missing native resolution in grouped resolution list |
Hi This i driving me mad, and I hope someone can help me with this problem. I have three projectors (Dell S-300) attached to a 6970 card, using one DP-HDMI cable, one DVI-HDMI cable and one hdmi-hdmi cable. (The Dells only have hdmi and vga inputs) When configuring eyefinity, everything work fine, except choosing the eyefinity grouped resolution. The Dells native resolution is 1280 by 800, and therefore I want to use 3840 by 800 as grouped resolution. But I only have these three choices: 5760 by 1080, 5040 by 1050 and 2400 by 600. None of these give me a nice image, and I wonder: How can I get eyefinity to enable 3840 by 800 ?? Thanks, Oyvind |

| Post subject: | You need to re-write the EDID |
You need to re-write the EDID of atleast 1 of the projectors (Note: You can damage the Projector if you do something wrong). The EDID shows the largest res is 1920x1080, eyefinity takes the largest common denominator of all the displays soo that would be 1080p/i. |

Thanks for replying! I was hoping that I could avoid creating a new EDID, because of the risk. But, can someone tell me how the intermediate grouped resolution is chosen? I mean, giving the user the possibility to use the native resolution should give a good hit ratio when guessing what the users want, right? Regards, Øyvind |

| Post subject: | Well the Main Group |
Well the Main Group Resolution (The biggest one) is chosen by taking the biggest common resolution between displays. The second smaller resolution is based on aspect ratio and the size of the main resolution: --If Main resolution is 3x1920x1080 / 3x1920x1200 or higher, the intermediate resolution will be 3x1600x900 / 3x1680x1050. ----If smaller it will use a smaller resoltuion with the same aspect ratio. The last grouped resolution is like a safemode and it will always be 3x800x600. Hope that helps. |

| Post subject: | Okay, thanks for clearing |
Okay, thanks for clearing that up. This is probably what's happening to me, then, the driver choosing the 1680*1050 resolution as base for the intermediate grouped resolution. But I wonder why Amd has done it like this, as I always prefer the native resolution, on both lcd, plasma and projectors... BTW: I found a way to "fix" the problem for now: By replacing the "dvi-hdmi cable" with a "dvi-vga" cable, I am able to select the 3840 * 800 resolution. Maybe the 1680*1050 resolution isn't supported over vga, and it therefore goes on step down? Of course, I want to use an all digital connection, so this is just a temp. fix. Regards, Øyvind |
