Hi @all, i'm new in this forum as a member and i'm also new into eyefinity. I would like to know, if this adapter should work with one 23inch full hd screen as the third screen into one 5870. http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/Wasserkuehlung/Wassergekuehlte-VGA-Karten/XFX-DisplayPort-zu-DVI-Adapter-Active-Dongle-Single-Link::15562.html thanks in advance for any reply. I have an XFX active mini displayport to DVI adapter - not exactly the same adapter as you've linked but pretty equivalent. It works a treat for my triple-monitor Eyefinity setup with a 6970. So I would assume that would work for you? |

I've used both DP>DVI and Mini-DP>DVI single-link active adapters like what you show. Mine were reference items from AMD and Accell brand that I bought. All worked flawlessly. |

The one you posted is a passive adaptor which supports DVI-Single Link.. ie a resoltuion of up to 1920x1200@60hz, these are often fairly cheap at around the £20 mark. The ones with USB are the active adpators, they support DVI-Dual Link, ie a resolution of up to 2560x1600@60hz, these are more expensive often around £80. |

The only German I know is names of beer, but I think this means "active" - "Aktive". Single-link active adapters don't require external USB power. |

Hey guys, so the supported resolutions are the only difference between active and passive adapters?? Nothing like monitor-detecion, EDID-Information or such things? Im currently planning my entry in Eyefinity-World and need some adapters too, cause I have 2 DVI and 1 VGA screens ready. Now im not sure what adapters would be more useful (MiniDP -> VGA, DVI -> VGA + MiniDP -> DVI or something else) and what adapters would be best fitting... |
