| Post subject: | Eyefinity-Crossfire microstutter problem |
Hi all, Never posted on this forum before, but have been comming here since I bought my new rig a month ago. After reading this thread I realised that I should have done some more research before buying my new system. I am quite anal about non-fluid gameplay. As many of you know, crossfire and eyefinity don't like eachother, wich means that you get a lot of mircostuttering even if fraps tells you that you are running a constant 60fps. Currently I only use crossfire for games that don't support eyefinity and I turn crossfire off when playing games that do. This is far from a ideal situation since I especially need the extra gpu power when running a game in a triple monitor resolution. Solutions I can think of: - wait untill amd solves this problem - sell one 6950 and wait for a more powerfull gpu (7xxx) to come out to replace the other one - sell both 6950 and go nvidia surround (I hear the microstutter problem is less pronounced or not even pressed when using sli) I am probably too late to return both cards, since I have been using them for about 4 weeks now. Any thoughts (or maybe even workarounds) on this matter are apreciated. |

Oddly enough I find that an alt tab will often sort out a good part of the microstutting issue, failing that get yourself Radeon Pro, and use it to disable crossfire or force a different crossfire profile on games that are a problem. SLI still has micro stuttering and again it depends on the game your playing as to how bad it is. |

On a single screen using crossfire the game runs smooth, but in eyefinity is doesn't. I hit a constant 60fps but it feels like 30-40fps. After disableling crossfire and turning down some graphicle settings the game runs good anough in eyefinity (45-60 fps). So in this case the solution is acceptable, but when bf3 comes out running that game in eyefinity on a single gpu might not be a so smooth experience. Can you tell me more about radeon pro and what kind of profiles you use to solve this problem? |

Alt tabbing works fine on Deus Ex for me so I don't need to use Radeon Pro for that game, have to disable crossfire for Shift 2 though. Your better off doing a google search for details on Radeon Pro, you'll find allot more useful information on it then I can give you on the programs website. |

Weird, for me alt tabbing does't do anything. Maybe the kind of stutter you are experiencing isn't the same as mine. Anyway, could you check if you find deus ex is running smoother when crossfire is disabled?? |
