Hi all, I have an overclocked xfx 5870 E6 running all 6 outputs to 6 identical DLP projectors. At the moment the projectors are hooked up via 6 powercooler adapters http://www.powercolor.com/us/products_Accessories_features.asp?id=2 From the adapters I am using 6x 35' DVI to HDMI cables (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10231&cs_id=1023101&p_id=2809&seq=1&format=2). Running windows 7 on an i7 930 on an MSI Big Bang Xpower (http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Big-Bang-XPower.html) PSU 1200W Corsair (http://www.corsair.com/power-supplies/professional-series-gold-2/ax1200.html) CC 11.6 Driver Packaging Version 8.861-110524a-119606C-ATI Catalyst Version 11.6 Provider ATI Technologies Inc. 2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1162 2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000 Direct3D Version 7.14.10.0841 OpenGL Version 6.14.10.10834 Catalyst Control Center Version 2011.0524.2352.41027 I am getting intermittent screen flickers and the occasional dropout while on the desktop or while running applications. Im somewhat unsure if my problem is a result of just the general screen flicker problem found on these eyefinity cards OR if its a problem with cable length. (changing cable length and or replacing the existing cable is NOT an option {$10K+} ) I am trying to find the most economically conscious FINAL solution to this problem, I am debating the following options: 1) buying x6 HDMI signal boosters (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041907&p_id=2849&seq=1&format=2) 2) Replacing my DP adapters to another model (if so what would be the best bet?) is my problem that I am running bus powered adapters? 3) new GPU (I know the 5870 is getting a little old these days so If there would be a better E6 GPU that does NOT have this problem I would be more than happy to get a new card. any ideas? |

from past experience. If i used too long a cable for my projector. i would get sparkles on the screen. But not drop out or screen flicker. One option would be to rent cables to test. any av rental company should be able to help. |

You problem is using a usb buss. They work but inconsistenly. You need these adpaters linked here : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814998050 Your problem will most likely be solved. They do not rely on usb power and have been designed from the ground up to work with eyefinity whereas the adapters that require usb power were never designed or intended to be used with AMD cards or eyefinity. I have had 3 eyefinity systems and these adapters are the only ones that ever worked consistently. Cable length has nothing to do with the dropouts. The signal is digital and unless you using like a 100 foot cable or something you should be fine. |

I think it is a driver issue sometimes on mine as they tend to de-sync a lot more on some drivers than others. It's annoying though when I'm watching a movie. |
