| Post subject: | Proper Eyefinity Crossfire Setup (Dual 6950) , How? |
Hi Guys , I was with a 5870 CF setup on Eyefinity up untill not long ago , My parents went abroad and got me 2 new 6950. Ofc i had to hack them to 6970 and they work wonderfully Upon Connecting , Ive seen (they had to do it) that there is no DP , but Mini DP now (OMG..WTF?) up untill then , with my 5870 i used 2 DVI and 1 DP->VGA Which i can no longer use. I said ill be a smart ass and got MINI Dp => HDMI (with the proper cable) , but that doesnt seem to work , Should i go on ebay and start searching for a Mini DP To vga or is there any way i can use the 3rd monitor on the 2nd card? Thanks!  |

It's gotta be an active adapter to use eyefinity (so yeah i don't think they even make an active miniDP->HDMI adapter). So If you're looking for a Digital Adapter they do have Single-Link DVI adapters that are active (and they are marked that way). You could go that way or buy a miniDP->VGA adapter (I used to use them on my 5870 with my 1080p monitors). |

Sorry if this sounds noobish. :D Are there no mini-dp to dp converters? Would it work anyway? |

There sure are. I've just ordered a couple from Monoprice. After reading through reviews, I saw a couple people saying it work with their Eyefinity setups. There are various lengths, but... http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246&cs_id=1024606&p_id=6008&seq=1&format=2 Since my 6950 isn't here yet, I have yet to see if it works for myself. But for $5 bucks, it's certainly worth the risk. On another topic; how'd your 6950-6970 flash go? What's your model? Is it a reference PCB, with the BIOS switch? I'm 9)% sure on e i ordered IS indeed, a reference PB with said switch, but apparently it can be done on non-reference cards, just a slightly trickier process. |
