I've been thinking of and planning my next upgrade for a while now. Didn't get round to it last year so held off for the 6000 series and now for Sandybridge etc. Now, my plan all along has been to go with a 5/6 output card so that I can run:- 3 x 1920x1200 24" directly (was planning on U2410's) as a group. 1 x 1920x1200 24" directly, single display 3 x 1280x1024 19" via a TH2Go (i.e. one output, assuming the AMD drivers still support 3840x1024 and can be used in conjunction with the rest) I'm looking at a multi-display setup for flight and space sims, the main display for the visuals and the single 24" and three 19" just for guages and panels, 2d stuff. However, over the weeks I've been thinking of other options, e.g. 3d, projectors instead of monitors etc. What are my options for the price of 3 U2410's (UK price) - I already have the other monitors? I could go 3D with cheaper TN panels yet I like the quality of IPS displays. I could go single HD projector and get one big display (or even two/three projectors although probably overkill for the space - still looking at the same sort of landscape width that three 24" would give me, toed in) 3D HD projectors are an option I suppose though more expensive, a wrap around screen would be nice.. Any projectors would have to be short throw since my setup/simpit build is in an attic space with low ceiling height. This is just for the 'main' display area - still want to use my three 19" (below) and single 24" (above) Any suggestions/recommendations? |

Get 3 IPS displays. For North America, anyways, the u2410s go on sale often. Dell also have smaller IPS models. |

Keep in mind 3D projectors are only 800x600, 1280x720 or 1024x768. There are no 1080p 3D enabled projectors yet. |

Thanks for the reply Brad, just created an account on nthusim to ask a similar question and came back here to grab the content to copy... Yep. I think they are available but are rediculously expensive at the moment, i.e. several thousands. I think I'm possibly moving more towards the desire of a projected setup so will post this over at nthusim. Cheers again.! |

Thanks for the reply Brad, just created an account on nthusim to ask a similar question and came back here to grab the content to copy... If there are, they're not DLP 3D Ready labeled and don't have the DLP 3D ready emitter. Really, all that is needed is a 100-120hz 1080p projector with a dual-dvi input to handle the bandwidth. Then get the NVIDIA 3D Vision kit. Problem is that tech is NVIDIA proprietary to NVIDIA cards. I donno of any 1080p that are marketed with 100-120hz specified though. At best you would probably have to dig through Projector central's projector database for something that is 1080p and 100-120hz capable. The post on the NTHUSIM site is a bit lengthy. Give me a bit of time to digest the information before replying. I'll probably whip up a reply sometime this weekend though. |
