Post subject:  Eyefinity only duplicates displays

Hello,

I am new to eyefinity. I have a vapor-x 5850, and three 22 inch monitors with native resolution 1680x1050. One is a benq g2200w and the other two are asus vw224u. I can get the screens to extend just fine, giving me an awesome amount of desktop space. However, when I duplicate them in catalyst control center and then set the group to be a 3x1, they just stay duplicated. This may have something to do with one of the resolutions I see - 5544x1050, if you go to the desktop properties, it's a choice. I'm not sure though. I am using an active displayport accell b087b-005b, which was recommended to me by ati, since I'm only using the smaller resolution monitors, and not greater than 1900x1200. It works fine, I guess. Had the same issue with the displayport to vga adapter, so I'm not sure if it's adapter-related. I'm not sure if that's the issue, but maybe. Have tried to get this to work with catalyst 10.10, 10.9, and 10.8, with equal results. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

adventure

First of all, you should be OK with hardware. I have monitors which are the same resolution as yours, though a bit smaller (20.1"), and I ordered the Accell b087b-005b to handle the DisplayPort connection.

To get Eyefinity working with your monitors, you need to create a group. Open the Displays & Desktops panel of Catalyst Control. The #1 monitor in the center of that panel should have a black triangle in its upper right corner. Right-click this and choose "Create Group." You'll be given the choice to go 1x3 or 3x1, then a few adjustments are made (like verifying that you have the right monitor order, and setting up bezel compensation). After that you should have a nice big custom resolution. Hope this helps!
