The 2 news articles conflict, the article linked to by the OP from engadget claims to use a zalmon monitor that is of 16:10 ratio and 1680x1050 resolution.
The article you link to claims the display is running at 5760x1080 which would indeed indicate a resolution of 1920x1080 per monitor.
I get the impression that maybe the 1st article is wrong/the link to the monitors used is pointing to the wrong zalmon product, as the product image does differ to that of the triple screen setup.
