Hello, I just saw the HardOCP video about the 3x2 setup. It came to me as a shock that the total visible area (tva) was more or less as one monitor... The reason we all start triple monitoring is for the extra tva, right ? When I first heard about the 6 ports card I was thinking "GREAT!, 6 times tva then a single monitor and 2 times tva then my current 3x1 setup..." I know why its behaving like that, but it is not the way we(?) want it, right ? If it is a fps shooter, we would expect that the HUD + weapon corsair would be in the bottom middle monitor, and the top 3 monitors would display extra tva - right ? BTW: The current problem with the 3x2 setup, the middle bezel is in the middle of the corsair so it is covering the aimed target, is solved if the games would run like a double 3x1 tva meaning. What do you guyz think ? |

Well if your using 1.60:1 3x2 monitors like they were using at HardOCP you would get 2.40:1 aspect ratio which is an extra 33% horizontal viewing area without sacrificing vertical badly. Using 1920 x 1080 16:9 monitors would provide 2.67:1. Many movies use ultra wide 2.20:1 so I can imagine 6 projectors running off the card would make an awesome and relitively cheap HD home cinema. Especially if they move to 2160p movies  I agree with Kyles review though that it doesnt make the best gaming environment without projectors because of the centre screen bezel. I would never consider using it for gaming but a 5x1 portrait setup might be nice if they can get it working. |

it is a fair bit wider than a single, if you build it with 16:10 displays its almost the same fov as the big 21:9 Philips HDTV 1x 16:10 3x2 (6 16:10 screens) 24:10 ~ 21.6:9 (fov comparable to the Philips Philips 56PFL9954H 21:9 HDTV) and still 50% wider than a single 16:10 3x2 (6 16:9 screens) 24:9 I dont see the big buzz about 3x2 either, it isn't exactly surround fov, costs more, has way too many bezels and has lower fps. |

I don't really understand your answer... Well you said that the total visible area seemed similar to a single monitor. I was explaining that the horizontal visible area is actually 33% more than a single monitor. Also it is more similar to ultra widescreen FOV and would provide a different (not worse) alternative to 3x1 setups where the FOV is so wide that you gain mostly Peripheral vision. |
