| Post subject: | Trifire (5970 + 5870) @ 7680x1600 - poor performance? |
Hello folks. New member here. Some great information in this forum. I have been messing around with my new Eyefinity setup (3 x 30" Dells), and I am seeing poor performance of a trifire setup (5970 + 5870) at the max resolution of 7680 x 1600. Here are some benchmarks I have run already. You'll see 5970+5870 showing good performance increases at 2560x1600, but lower numbers than a single 5970 at 7680x1600. Has anyone else here been trying trifire (or quadfire) at 7680x1600? I cannot find anyone testing at that resolution. Just 2560x1600. Jason. PS - this is a link to the benchmarks that is easier to read. The image below is being resized on me. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b56/mrmorphine/Untitled-4.jpg PPS - I am running the benchmarks on a clean Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) install, with only the ATI drivers and benchmark software on it.

Nope, everything that I have been able to run at 7680x1600 so far. So in the table above that I have, of the 4 benchmarks that ran in trifire at 7680x1600, all 4 were significantly lower than a single 5970 in the same benchmark. Jason. |

Just use the 5970 and not include the 5870. |

Well this is always a problem with 3 or more GPU's. I know someone who had a 4870X2 and added a 4870 to that, which resulted in worse performance. Presume you have already but have you tried all drivers? I know quad xfire has only just been within a recent update. |

Thanks for the comments folks. I am hoping to attract some other trifire (or quadfire) people who have been testing 7680x1600 so that we can compare notes. I also wanted my post to give a heads up to people using 7680x1600 and thinking of going trifire/quadfire that there really seems to be no point right now, until some new drivers are released. Jason. |

I believe the problem is your game selection. These games have been friendly to me in eyefinity with crossfire. Dirt2, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Hawk. Try these with your trifire eyefinity setup, and you should see better perfromance than your vanilla 5970. |

I have 5970+5870 with 3 x Dell 2209WA 1680x1050 monitors (5040x1050 eyefinity). Games tested L4D2-AVP3-Crysis Warhead-STALKER COP-CODMW2-FarCry 2-COJBIB With crossfire disabled and just using the 5970 with eyefinity all tested games run fine though STALKER COP and Crysis Warhead have pretty low fps when max setting are used and arn't playable unless setting are lowered (this was the reason for adding the 5870, thought it would increase preformance). With crossfire enabled and using eyefinity all those games run like CRAP!...fps are in the teens and it's a slugfest slideshow, totally unplayable. Switch to just a single monitor and all games run great with 5970+5870 tri-fi cfx but as soon as you enable eyefinity all games don't work. Hope ATI can fix this because as it is even a single 5970 @ 900/1225 isn't enough to power damanding game with max settings even at 5040x1050 eyefinity. Please fix it ATI before I turn psycho killer. |

I have 5970+5870 with 3 x Dell 2090WA 1680x1050 monitors (5040x1050 eyefinity). this. According to ati/amd there is support for crossfire eyefinity. I dont like playing stuttering, skipping, and sluggish game play not to mention screen tearing. |
