Hi All, i am struggling to make 3 monitors work on my HD5870 Now the website says, Prepare to experience a riveting high-definition gaming experience with ATI Radeon™ HD 5870 graphics processors.1 Expand your visual real estate across up to three displays and get lost in the action with revolutionary ATI Eyefinity Technology.2 I do not wish to game across three monitors, All i want to do is replicate monitor 2 from my desk onto monitor three over my decks, http://www.dance-fm.co.uk/gpu/setup.JPG I have tried many options prior to purchasing my nice shiny new card but now i have got it i still dont seem to be able to make this work. I have used the 2 x dvi-d out to my 2 main monitors, i tried the hdmi out to dvi-d in on the third monitor and that doesn't seem to work i have purchased a passive DisplayPort to Dvi-D converter which doesn't seem to work accross all three. I can switch between any 2 monitors but to get the third one going at the same time has got me beat. i have seen the saphire active display port converter but do feel a bit hard done by as i have spent £230 on the card and not happy about spending another £80 ion the converter, if anyone can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated. Specs:: Asus p5w Deluxe Mobo Duel Core E6700 4Gb DDR2 HD5870 Too Much Storage 2 x Samsung Monitors 192 wide 1 x HP Monitor 17" standard M Audio Professional Studio Sound Windows 7 Ultimate (Proper) All the latest catalyst and drivers, If you need any more info let me know i will post the answers i have gotten from a different forum while i am in search of my destiny :) [q]Originally posted by: Gr33nGecko Heya,.. This is how you set them up .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYorUpN4PQo .. and yes, a passive adapter won't work. The Sapphire adapter is at least £20 less than DELLs or anyone else's on the market .. You cannot use x2 DVI with the HDMI aswell, as the cards only have x2 RAMDACs, so a Display Port monitor has to be used ( with an active link or via an active DP adapter ) .. That's why the specs say x3 monitors with one being a Display Port capable monitor. GG [/q] [q]Originally posted by: Munchy Ok thanks for the link it helped a lot, now i have some questions and im only satisfying my own curiosity, I have the 3 monitors recognised in the catalyst display panel by using the 2 x dvi and the display port to dvi adapter (passive). Now i would have thought that as i can see all three monitors in the catalystsurely i can set them all up at the same time on the catalyst but i still can only duplicate 2 at a time on the monitors. what is the active displayport to dvi actually doing? According to the chap on the video he says it converts the display port signal to a dvi signal but as mentioned i can see the monitor in action when i select it using the passive. Also if i have to purchsase this new displayport to dvi (active) does anyone know where i can get one for a reasonable price and im in the UK. Thanks all, i have found another forum aswell so i am going to pester them aswell. Cheers All Munch!! [/q] if anyone has any pointers or anything you think i should know then please feel free to spin me round and kick me in the right direction |

Just an update to my unanswered post to see if i can spark a little life into it. could someone tell me as i tried posting in the amd forums and my thread got locked for no reason :( Remember i dont want to game across three monitors i have all three monitors working could my setup not be duplicating as all the monitors are not the same size? if i were to get a 19" monitor on number 3 could i duplicate monitor 2 with just a passive Dp to dvi? is the active dp 2 dvi just for gaming? |
