for you HARDWARE GURU's I offer a challenge....

at some point in the future, DCS (digital combat simulator) will release a flight simulator based on the A-10C aircraft.

currently, i play lockon modern aircombat and DCS Black shark with 2 montiros @ 1680x1050, one monitor on top and one at the bottom, thus making a resolution of 1680x2100.

when DCS does release the A-10C, and with black shark, i want to utilize TWO small 7" LCD VGA displays in a configuration as follows....

[ -----1680 x 1050----- ] (top monitor) 22" LCD
[ -----1680 x 1050----- ] (middle monitor) 22" LCD
[-800x600-][-800x600-] (bottom left) 7" (bottom right) 7"

MY goal, is to have a set up where in Black shark,

[ camera 1 view* ]
[..............................]
[ shkval ][ ABRIS ]

and in the future, if and when the A-10C comes out, monitor setup as follows..

[ camera 1 view* ]
[..............................]
[ MFD #1 ][ MFD #2 ]

* two screens vertically stacked @ 1680x2100 resolution

NOTE: the 7" LCDs will only have VGA inputs.
i hear that the HD5000 series DOES NOT LIKE VGA inputs.
worst case scenario, i can hook up the matrox th2g to operate as dualhead adapter for the two 7" LCDs...

IF SOME ONE CAN TELL ME IF THIS IS POSSIBLE (all on the one HD5850/70), please let me know if i can achieve IT ! (i am opened to hearing options via 2 video cards, though one HD5850/70 is prefered)

thanks ...

You can run about any independent display configuration you want to. Where is begins getting to be an issue is in 3D engines. I'm not sure how the DCS engine handles extra displays. Is it like FSX where you can run extras?

I don't think it'll be possible to run four monitors from one 5870...

I would suggest running the smaller external displays off of a separate card from your main overhead external view and use whatever aftermarket app you'll use to display things in them. I really recommend you check out http://www.mycockpit.org which specializes in simpit type setups including glass cockpit integration into flight sims. What you're asking about is highly specialized and beyond the scope of most people here.

The type of setup you're talking about isn't really directly related to anything EyeFinity (the external view span might be the only exception).

Not going to work with the A10 anyway unless they change the underlying engine.

Black Shark doesn't really support multiple monitors - the multiple monitor support option butts the screens together rather than directing them to where you want.

OK, maybe i should change this topic to,

"CAN I RUN EYEFINITY WITH TWO WIDESCREENS @ 1680x1050 or 1920x1080 WITH TWO 7" LCDs with VGA inputs via a Matrox TH2g"....

SEEMS LIKE A DIFFICULT SETUP BUT WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING in the first place ?
the game would have to handle the eyefinity group & the TH2G group independently

sorry if i was "screaming" ... just wanted to emphasize....

BHawthorne, thaks for the info.. i am familiar with opencockpits... but i am here in this forum because i am trying to run displays on ONE PC with ONE Graphcs Card..(not multiple PCs or multiple GPUs)...and i am just curious about the eye-finity possiblities..

Basically, i just would like to know if some one can run the HD5850/70 with
one DVI monitor, one Displayport monitor (or DVI with DP activae adapter) AND a triplehead2go (with 2 or 3 monitors) connected to the second DVI port....

ONE MIGHT ASK "why bother with TH2G?"...

well i THINK i might need the TH2G in conjunction with HD5850/70 because of the reports that analog VGA adapters arnt supported with multiple monitors setups on Ati HD5850/70...

THANK YOU FOR READING..and posting.. and those who can test.. i would appreicate!

Emphasise with italics or bold, please. :| Caps lock is both considered rude and is difficult to read. ;)
