[quote]For now, SoftTH is the only option for this configuration.

Oh dear. That's a shame. The limitations are turning out to be a disapointment after the initial excitement of thinking this was going to be a solution to the nuisance of using SoftTH.

as BHawthorne said "For now" ...

keep in mind EyeFinity is a new technology for ATI driver team ...
Was SoftTH awesome from the first day it went public ?
Did Matrox have all current options on the first day with the first TH device ?
...

I know its months ago but I would like to throw my 2 cents in:

Afaik Eyefinity only works with 3x the same resolutions - same as Matrox TH2Go. You may use 20/24/20, as I do at the moment, only via SoftTH. Looks like this:

5120x1200:

2 x 20" 1600x1200 will not look right, as it is or different pixel-pitch (0.27 vs 0.255), even if you can run them using SoftTH style.

Right but it will fit well with 20/30/20 - this is what my current goal for next spring is:

But becaus of Eyefinity and a potentially coming new Matrox with resolution up to 3x1920x1200 I´m also thinking about 3x27" triplehead - same power rquirements as 3x24 but huge display. Dunno what to do...

What I really would like to see is a proper support of 20/30/20 with Eyefinity and/or Matrox TH2GO - you will have 1600 pixels in height which is a much better trade in than having more horizontal pixels with 3x24" or 3x27".

EyeFinity currently runs all screens at the same resolution and orientation.

That is the only hard limitation.

The monitors don't have to be the same brand, or the same model, or the same size. It's perfectly fine to mix and match whatever you like, so long as all of your screens support one resolution in common.

E.g. 30" 2560x1600 + 24" 1920x1200 + 17" 1280x1024 will run as a 3 x 1280x1024 array (3840x1024).

Asthetically, this would be horrendous, but there's no technical reason why it can't be done.

On the flip side, the current implementation of EyeFinity cannot stitch together different resolutions into a single large surface.

e.g. 1600x1200 + 1920x1200 + 1600x1200 will NOT create a 5120x1200 surface in the current implementation of EyeFinity. You could probably get it to run as 3 x 1600x1200 (4800x1200), but the center screen would look pretty weird.

Just for testing purposes, I've been using a 24" center and 19" sides, all running 1680x1050.

The overall effect is, surprisingly, quite convincing. Not enough to dissuade me from my eventual goal of 3x32" LCD running 720p - but damn good.
