What sucks about this is it's gonna look like a fire sale on ebay for TH2G. I'm pessimistic on what I'll be able to get for my stuff.

This is true. I'm hoping this is as good as it sounds, but Matrox just got buried by ATi.

After how long of ATi not supporting TripleHead properly, they get triple 1680 working in Cat 9.7, then tease us with this.

i wouldnt be suprised if there is some sort of lawsuit somewhere down the line.

i would say kudos to ATI for taking the initiative and going 1 better, but it seems like it is a "gimmick", i personally just want 1 screen with insane FPS (read that as 60 because of the LCD limitations :P). the number of people with space for 3 is low (but we have a few people with them here), and people that would then have 6 screens?

killer selling feature though :D

fantastic move on ATI's part imo :D

From their demoing, Crysis was apparently playable on six screens. That's quite a feat. I don't see how there can be lawsuits (although I'm sure someone, somewhere, will try) unless ATi have done something in exactly the same way as Matrox. And as there isn't that little hardware box, I'm not sure it's going to be an issue. Still, I guess time will tell, eh?

I have a few questions though about the eyefinity thing.

1) How will they handle the bezel? I do like the way Matrox handles it.

2) if you have 3 monitor connected to the videocard. do it see it as a single large screen like matrox do or 3 separate screen?
It would be great if it it can switch the way it sees it.

for work I would like 3 separate screen to use with Ultramon. it is more productive

1) It seems it will have it in the future, told by amd-ati
2) Configurable. It sees a single monitor, or you can, for example, if you have six monitors, you can create a group of 5 monitors and another group of one monitor.

Yeah some sort of bezel management/frame removal or so will be added later this year in an update for the eyefinity software

Golem.de has a pretty good article in german about it with a few pictures

awesome.

I'm gonna take out my Th2go later tonight and sell it on ebay.

playing 1440x900 on a 24" is not so hot.

I drool at playing at 3x 1920x1200 native resolution.

That is looking good, although I don't like the idea of six (bezel where the crosshair is, same as dual. 3.3 monitors though......)

Anyway this is a very good bit "We also asked AMD if the EyeFinity tech could cope with monitors with different resolutions and sizes, and received an affirmative – which means that you could begin to add monitors as and when you like, including re-using old ones."

HardOCP has a nice writeup as well:

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009/09/09/amd_next_generation_ati_radeon_eyefinity_technology

Looks like TH will work on DVI monitors with a single Display Port adapter.

It would be nice to use my 1600x1200x3 monitors in native res instead of downscaling to 1280x1024x3.

Don't know if I want to upgrade from my 280GTX WC for this generation though.
