BHawthorne - lol your setup is why i want to do 3x portrait!! i was browsing thru the forums and i came across your picture of your setup and thought that seemed cool for a workstation, more height than width =)

as for gaming aspect, i really needed a card badly and couldnt wait for the x2 so i figured id adopt this card first then buy the x2 when it comes out - trust me after sitting for a month without a working computer because u had just liquidated all your 3 monitors, video cards and triplehead.. i gets lonely!!!

plus i hope they support crossfire soon with eyefinity, we need every bit of power we can for surround/multi setups!!

Kinesis - i think that it wouldnt be so much surround in game doing portrait, considering 3600x1920 is almost like 1 giant 1080p monitor - ive always wanted to do this for the workspace part of it - definitely a change to game in portrait, thats for damn sure lol

6-port and 2GB is what I'm holding out for. Neither of those specs have hit a 5870 product on the shelves right now.

It has the benifit of working better with -vert games too as the aspect ratio isn't unusual anymore.

3600x1920 is an aspect ratio of 15:8....which is real close to regular single screen aspect ratios.

Just to throw this out there, but wouldn't you get the surround if you did 5 24" 1920x1200 monitors together in portrait? 6000x1920 would be awesome. 1:3.125 aspect ratio.

Yeah, would be sweet to be able to work on five portrait mode screens. :D

Word - Word - Excel - Powerpoint/Firefox - Winamp/IM/Other Stuff.

I like that idea a lot.

Want.

It would be worth the hassle. Ultra widescreen and you'd have enough vertical FOV

If I picked up another 245BW I could do the 5 screen portrait setup. I already own 4 245BW.

It would be sorta cool to have a 5 screen setup and switch between having an SLS area for 3 and 5 screens and switch between the 2 options depending upon the game. That way you could play -vert games on the 3 screen and the rest on the 5. That flexibility would definitely be much more of an advantage over TH2G limitations.

The more I think about it the more I realize I should just pick up another used 245BW.
