so this game is part of the THQ pack on steam and has been on and off sale for a month or so. I picked it up for just a few bucks and was hoping to get in some WS gaming. detailed report file + res fixer doesnt seem to work with my setup. actually i dont notice much differance with or without the file downloaded and installed really. i have 3x1 4:3 monitors for a total aspect of 15:4 @ 3840x1024 i get in the game but its zoomed so horribly, it feels like my FOV is something rediculous like 30. i cant see the players feet, if i get in a car i cant see the bottom half and Definitely can't see the wheels. anyone have any idears? *edit, found out that the problem is that i loaded the Gentlemen of the Row mod. it doesnt overwrite that common.vpp.pc file but its like the game no longer reads it or something. cause the FOV is back to default, which is unplayable. if i remove the mod and go back to stock the patch works great and the fov is way zoomed out as it should be. i joined the dev of the SR2 GOTR mods forum (which is awesome and had lots of SR2 and SR3 mods BTW) and asked him about his too. ill post if i get anything back. |

anyone having issues with this game (and who has been for years or has scrapped it because of it) should know that 1. the current steam version still has issues :P in fact there are steam forums talking about returning the game cause its so crap. However if you didnt know a bunch of fixes were made third party that made the game playable again. graphic fixes, speed fixes, trigger fixes etc. etc. etc. People really took it upon themselves to fix up what the game devs gave up on. and they did a great job. download Gentlemen of the Row. a Mod that fixes all the bugs, drastically improves gameplay, and adds a few of the most popular mods into the game as well making it a bit more enjoyable. all packaged with an installer that even lets you pick and choose which mods you want or dont want. i stumbled upon this via the steam forums cause i was pretty much regretting my purchase even though it was only a few dollars. Now i think the game is much better ;). homepage is here: http://idolninja.com/sr2.php and i added a WIDESCREEN fix that pairs with this mod to the Detailed report section here: http://widescreengamingforum.com/forum/forums/gaming/detailed-widescreen-reports/15967/detailed-report-saints-row-2#comment-238704 (providing its cool with mods and admins that i posted something about a mod in that thread that is) the fix is basically the fix from the detailed report, but since that didnt work the files had to be extracted and can be run as part of the mod installing them with it and making the patch work awesomely! im about 7 hours in and loving it :D. esp since i got it for just a few bucks on a steam sale. |
