It does, but not without some config file editting, and the results are stretched-ugly.

Ah, that's too bad. The first game was a fun little romp - in many ways (with it's very flexible coop mode for example) it proved to be the spiritual successor to Jedi Power Battles, fulfilling many of the things I wanted to see in a lightsaber action-based game.

Oh well. Maybe i'll just play it with fixed aspect scaling, keep things simple. :)

The retail version has widescreen support. It allows you to select 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions. I am currently playing it @ 1920x1200.

I will post screenies later (at work now) and perhaps do a detailed report for this.

I tested it late last week as well. Found it to have decent support. Looks like a mix of Hor+ and Vert- Got enough screens to do the Detailed Report.

Anyone want to put odds on a Lord of the Rings version?

There is a browser based LEGO Star Wars game out, apparently.

Well, we'll have to get rid of the crystal skull first.

And I'm pretty sure Lego Fast & Furious will be next.

Edit: thanks for the heads-up - the browser game uses the Unity thingy, which as every Insterstellar Marines fan should now know supports fullscreen display with Hor+ gameplay ! :D

default in-browser window

fullscreen, 5040x1050

I still have to install the first one.

My money is actually on Harry Potter.

EDIT - I am good.

http://weblogs.variety.com/the_cut_scene/2009/03/lord-of-the-rings-ga.html

(Although, according to reports, WB may already have its studio Traveller's Tales working on "Lego Harry Potter," perhaps in some kind of co-publishing deal with EA.)

Update 2: Another bit of evidence confirming this report comes from GamesIndustry, which reports that an animator at developer Traveller's Tales revealed on a resume that her company had pitched Peter Jackson on a "Lego Lord of the Rings" game. Traveller's Tales is owned by Warner Bros.
