Hi! So I've been googling like a mad man trying to solve an issue I have with this game that I just can't seem to solve. So here we go. I want to play GTA SA in widescreen but version 1.0 only supports up to a 1680x1050 resolution. I'm trying to use SAAC v1.2 which will only work on version 1.0. Version 1.1 of GTA SA supports widescreen on my ATI 3870 but I lose support for SAAC. I tried to look at the .exe using xvi32 to see if I could hack one of the resolutions to support 1920x1080 but I cannot find a string to edit that will allow me to change 640x480 to a widescreen resoltuion. I'm looking for some suggestions on how to fix this issues. Can anyone help me out? |

v1.2 is the Cold Coffee patch, right? In any case, i never had a problem running at 1680x1050 or even my custom 1680x1945 in any version, pre- or post-Cold Coffee. I forget what the hex is for that res, but it's flaoting aroudn the forums somewhere. If you're using old savegames, try deleting the .set file in your My DocumentsGTA San Andreas folder. And be sure to grab Camhack 1.2 to achieve proper aspect ratio. Or run it at a 16:9 res. |

Yea I've come across a small tutorial by mithras for Silent Hill 2: 1. Buy a copy of "Silent Hill 2: Directors Cut" or find your current 3 CD copy. Install it FULLY - including the 2 GB in movies. I figure this would work for a majority of my games but unfortunately not all games make it easy. I already know all the values I need to put 1920x1080 in hex but the xvi tool won't find any of the resolutions so that I can make the change. I tried 90 06 00 00 1a 04 (1680x1050) and 80 02 00 00 E0 01 (640x480) but none of these values were found. Update: This is by far the strangest thing to happen on my setup but last night I updated my ATI software from version 9.1 to 9.5 and while playing GTA my game minimized to desktop while playing in 1680x1050 resolution. After I returned to the game due to the ATI software telling me that it detected an HDMI connection, which must of been a glitch, the game now runs at my max resolution of 1920x1080 even though the ingame option only goes as high as 1680x1050. This is a first for me so I have no idea why this has happened. Very stange but I'm still looking to see if I can get an official fix on this just incase the game reverts back to 1680x1050 after an OS reinstall since I am over due for one. |
