hey,

4 years later, thanks to these guys (and the fact that i now own a widescreen monitor)...

... i've come to a solution for this gem of a game. or... something closer to one.

originally with where they left off, the text was outta whack and the top and bottom of the HUD were cut off a bit. so, finding the Freelancer SDK and the right INIs, i managed to get something that works a bit better.

so if any of you guys still have Freelancer laying around... here's my quick fix:

1. Goto "My DocumentsMy GamesFreelancer"

2. Open "PerfOptions.ini". At the bottom you'll find:

[Display]
   size= 1024, 768
   


3. Change that to:

Code:
[Display]
   size= 1680, 1050
   


4. Or whatever resolution you wanna run at. Save and Close.

5. Goto "Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFreelancer" and extract this quick fix. Overwrite any files it asks about.

Done!

Now load up a game or go online, and once you go into space, the changes will take effect.

i call this a quick fix because (not that i'm just lazy, but) you still have to be in space for the changes to take effect. but only once. the changes will stay until you quit the game. not sure how to get around this, but if you guys got an idea, shoot me a message.

Wow... just this very day, in this very hour I reinstalled Freelancer after a long pause, and was thinking about uninstalling it right away without a fix (darn Nvidia STILL couldn't publish drivers supporting Aspect Scaling for Vista...) when your patch suddenly appeared :D

someone really wants me to play this game :D
