I'm curious whether there's a way to modify or tweak the games so both can run as they should in widescreen resolution (mine 1280 x 768), both games show list of widescreen resolutions when you click the res button but appearantly they're only scretching the screen instead of adding to the left and right (Hor+)

Gothic 3 runs perfect for me, European version, at 1440x900 resolution. No stretching, and without modifying anything (Well, actually I have tweaked the INI, but for image quality/performance).

Sure, here you go:

The HUD is a little stretched, but everything else isn't.

Thanks for the screen, Reinert. I thought Gothic 3 widescreen resolution is just a stretched version of normal resolution, I guess the HUD made me think that way. At least now I know Gothic 3 has widescreen support, maybe someone can make a widescreen report of Gothic 3? Because I haven't seen any in this forum. By the way, what about Medieval 2? I'm pretty sure this one is stretched...

@Reinert: what do you mean tweaking INI to get image quality/performance? Are you saying that you get less lag in-game? I'm interested... :D

Read this thread: http://forum.jowood.com/showthread.php?t=126976

There are a lot of tweaks there. Experiment with those so you can get the best performance/IQ on your system. I don't know if it's on the thread I just linked, but try decreasing the mouse smoothing levels in the game options, that helped a lot with the laggy feeling the game had.

I just found 2 comparison screenshots in this board, just in case any doubters think the pics above are stretched, these clearly show that Gothic 3 has native widescreen support (noted that the pic are 50% of the original size):

1600x1200

1920x1200

@reinert: what G3 tweak settings do you use for your PC? BTW, I found this tuning utility, haven't tried it, but it looks promising :D

I have tweaked so much the .ini that I honestly can't remember. But when I did, I configured it for max details and 2GB Ram. Only lags a bit in big towns/cities. I also tried the Tuning utility that you mention, and it's really helpful if you don't want to mess with the .ini file.
