So Santa came early for me this year, and he was nice enough to land me a nice 19" widescreen Acer lcd. I plan on mostly using it for an extension of my desktop to watch movies while doing work, or just more real estate.

That part I figured out. I just extend the desktop and can drag windows to the right. Doing that with normal windows works fine (aka I can move them there and maximize them nicely).

But gaming is a whole different story. I want to use the external monitor to game on, while use the laptop lcd for the desktop. Problem is that games start up and go full screen on the laptop, and I have no way of moving it to the big screen. What I usually do is just clone the desktop over to the big lcd, and play on that, but then the laptop lcd is being used.

Is there anyway I can setup so that games play fully on the extended desktop, while still using the laptop lcd for other things.

BTW, I have an ati mobility x700 if that makes a difference.

thanks

you can use a program like UltraMon and force the programs to start on the second monitor.

I did this and it worked fine. (also on a laptop)
