This may be a dummy/repeat question, but I can't find any solutions after searching here. Sooooo.... All the possible settings I can get in Windows XP for my widescreen are unrealistic. Circles display as ovoids, photos are squashed, etc. The only one that is correctly proportional for me is 1440x900, but that makes everything way too small. Before this latest graphics card, I had an nVidia tool that permitted me to set the screen res to 1280x800, and that was proportional and a good size to work with. Now, however, I can't use that tool with my new card (nVidia 8800GTS) and the closest I can get is 1024x960, which is one of the squishy resolutions. Does anyone have a clue? Thx. |

Powerstrip can do it for you. Of course make sure you have the latest graphics drivers, too. For widescreen resolutions, see this link: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/ Sounds like you have a 16:10 display.. Though i find it odd taht your drivers won;t do 1280x800.. my ATI drivers have always done it. |

I downloaded pstrip and accessed the DISPLAY PROFILES, but I still cannot move the slider to a satisfactory resolution. In DISPLAY PROFILES the pstrip slider goes from 1024x768 to 1152x864, then it jumps to 1280x960. None of these render an accurately proportionate display: my circles are still ovoids etc. Why can't pstrip give me 1024x800? Thanks for your time, friend. |

Reforce didn't work either. I chose ADD MODE, I added 1024 for x and 800 for 7; I then clicked APPLY (for both x and y); the program told me that the settings would take effect when I next changed the screen mode or reset my pc, so I rebooted and the resolution is exactly the same: 1024x768! My circles are still ovoid. Help! |

I downloaded pstrip and accessed the DISPLAY PROFILES, but I still cannot move the slider to a satisfactory resolution. Add the res yourself. Powerstrip: Add Custom Desktop Resolution |

Would that I could! That would be nice. The guide says: Add Custom Desktop Resolution Rightclick the icon in the system tray >> Display profile >> Configure >> Advanced timing options >> I can't get that far. The Advanced timing options bar is greyed out. I can't click on it. Sigh...... [/b] |

Are you purposefully giving me me the runaround? What has anything on those url's got to do with simple screen resolutions? Is there a definitive answer to this problem or not? If you don't know, it's okay to admit it. But please, no more false leads. I would like to hear from someone who knows what they are talking about. If I can't find such a person here, where else? |

That was the wrong thing to say my friend. If you knew in the slightest what was involved in trying trouble shooting via an online forum... you wouldn't have shot off your insolent mouth like that. It may have EVERYTHING "to do with simple screen resolutions" Keep that tone & attitude up & no one else might try to help you either. |
