I set it under "Screen Resolution and Refresh rates" with "Advanced Timing" as the sub-section. Here is a screenshot. Note: Fixed Aspect ratio is what is currently selected.

I can't get warcraft III to display at 1680x1050 or 1400x1050. I want it to display at 1400x1050 with bars on the side so it isnt stretched, but when I do the registry hack (for 1680 or 1400), it automatically reverts back to 640x480x16bit. I have the monitor set to "Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling"...what am I doing wrong??? |

Hi Nautical ... welcome to the WSGF ... 8) 1400x1050 sounds like a very odd resolution to me ... and therefore a custom one ... have you add it as a custom res ? Also ... what graphics card do you have ? This info may help people to help you ... :D Put your system specs in your profile ... that way they are always there for all to see/help when needed ... :wink: |

I wanted to do 1400x1050 so that its at the largest 4:3 resolution the monitor can display...this way it wont stretch. What I just realized was that when I edit the registry, it is actually displaying at that said resolution, but warcraft still "says" its at 640x480x16. So now the problem lies in getting the bars to display on the sides. Right now its stretching from 1400x1050 to the monitors native 1680x1050. It shouldn't be doing this because i set it at "fixed aspect ratio". Nvidia 7800GT Latest drivers Win xp Pro In summary...it is infact displaying at 1400x1050, but it is stretching to fill 1680x1050. How do I get the vertical bars to display? Edit: I've tried other games like halo that run in 4:3 by default, but they still stretch to 1680x1050! :evil: |

In the nvidia drivers/software there is an option under Nview Display settings ... Device Settings ... Device Adjustment ... Fixed Aspect Scaling Is this where you have set it ? ... or have you set it on the monitor ? |

I never mess with Advanced Timing ... I'm sure it is fine if you know what you are doing but I always set it up like this ... Choose nView Display Settings ... it is at the top on the left in your picture under GeForce 7800 GT ... nView Display Settings ... then pick ... Device Settings (button bottom right) ... then select Device Adjustments and choose Fixed Aspect Scaling |

Yea that was an old screenshot. I went to the page you told me to and it was already at fixed aspect ratio...I assume from setting it to that on the other page. 
Uhh...its very frustrating why it wont fix the aspect ratio. I have the dell drivers installed and it is connected to the computer via the usb cable and DVI. What is the point of the USB connection btw? |

How about the aspect setting in the OSD of your monitor ? The USB connection to your PC is so that the USB ports on the monitor can work ... I think the 2005 has USB ports on the side/back |
