Ok ... here you go ... :D

Run the game once ... then ... edit or add these lines in config.cfg for the original Call of Duty and uoconfig.cfg for United Offensive

These cfg files will be found in the Call of DutyMain folder and the Call of Dutyuo folder.

seta cg_fov "115" ... or whaterver looks best for your widescreen resolution.
seta r_customheight "800"
seta r_customwidth "1280"
seta r_mode "-1"
seta developer "1"

I don't know why your game is freezing ..
Have you got the latest patch ?

Add the seta developer "1" to the config file ... type it in as a new line ... I don't know but may be it will stop it freezing.

1280 x 800 is a 16:10 aspect ratio. The default FOV setting in COD at a 4:3 aspect ratio is only 80. The correct FOV setting to enter for 16:10 is exactly 90.395093. (6 decimal places is probably a little extreme. 8) ) An FOV of 115 would be way too wide for your screen. You will see more peripherally, but objects will be squished together to show you that extra periphery.

I'd also change this line in the config.cfg file: seta com_introplayed "0" to seta com_introplayed "1". That way the Activision and Infinity Ward intro movies get skipped. (You won't see these when you change to widescreen anyway.)

Now I do have a question though. What does the "seta developer "1"" line do? I haven't used this before and the single player COD works fine for me at 1280 x 720. Multiplayer always reverts back to an FOV of 80 however. Does "seta developer "1"" possibly enable the multiplayer to work widescreen?

Thanks.
