VS needing special treatment as always...

v0.8 makes turret sensitivity optional and no longer affects Magriders.

I just wanted to pop in and say that the last patch broke player FOV editing via .ini (can set to 89, but it resets to 74 when I log in).
Read-Only doesn't help since I assume it has that 74 value set somewhere internally as a default.

Any way PS2FOV can be expanded to include Infantry FOV until SoE gets their head out of a dark place.

Seems like GU7 broke the current method for vehicles as well.

Any chance we see a update for this?

Yes, so sad. PS2 is just unplayable without PS2FOV, if an update can be made, it would be great !

There is no version information anywhere on this tools, but I think I have the v0.8. And I confirm it doesn't work with the latest version of PS2.

Imperial Commando,

You are our frikkin' HERO, dude.

I couldn't play this game that I've thrown way too much money at. You fixed, alone, what the Sony devs just can't get their head around, or something.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, perhaps it's time to give this game another shot.

How is the HUD? Is it centered yet?

I heard mention, from Skid IIRC, that people were banned for using a different widescreen fix with PS2. Any such problems with this one?

Nope, the devs know about it, but somehow don't object to it, somehow. It's safe to use, Timo!

There is a way to center the hud, but the minimap and other stuff that's attached to it stay in the lower left. You'll get your ammo, health, and power indicators centered, though.

In next patches (on July) we will customize HUD. This is on roadmap: https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/ind ... on.129882/

Has anyone seen or heard anything on the status of official support? It's a shame they said it would be included, removed it, then after some attention was drawn said it was being worked on and no several months later still nothing.... :(

Thanks for this, in anything wider than 16:9, the view was diabolical. Tried this today (30 oct 13, using v1.2 from OP) and it worked a treat.

Your effort is greatly appreciated :)

Hi there,

Thank you for this fantastic app, I'm using it everyday.
Unfortunately, today's Game Update PU01 seems to have compatibility problems with PS2FOV. The utility is not working anymore.
Could you look into it please ?

Thank you for your work.

Edit : nevermind, today the utility is working fine, they may have corrected the problem with this morning' patch...

Hello WSGF peeps

First a big thanks to ImperialCommando for this program. Has allowed me to play PS2 on 3 screens which has been great. Can't thank you enough. Someone did post here stating the latest game update has stopped this program from working but that post no longer appears. What i want to ask is would you ever consider updating this so it can be used again? I was so looking forward to cranking up the detail on this game once the game update had been applied but now i have to reduce down to 1 screen :o( I did notice a post in a mmorpg forum today that someone was playng PS2 at 5760x1080 after the latest game update but i cant see how this is possible. Will wait to see what that person reply is.

Anyway big thanks again. Keep up the good work

Regards Phil

Have tried again after this mornings patch and still no luck. :(

What we need to do is raise this issue with the developers. There are quite a few threads on the PS2 forums. Just google for terms like PS2 FOV. Or planetisde 2 fov.

They need to realize its not OK to remove features that made the game playable after people spent money on it.

I've recreated my original thread on their forums, I can do nothing about this fix not working though I'm afraid: https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/ind ... ov.159209/

Please direct your frustration at this issue existing for over a year there.

Cool, I've not had a means to check it for the last 6 months :P Just to confirm, version 1.2 works with the current version of the game, which was patched in the last couple of weeks, I only ask because all the threads saying it no longer works, and the PM I got, are in the last couple of weeks.

I still think it would be worth you having a word with dopefish or HaYDeN about how you can create a plugin for their tools, if for no other reason then it'll allow it to be auto updated, pluging themselves credit the creator of the fix if you was worried about that.

Newest patch of PS2 seems to ignore the changes made by this app. Any plans for an update? I don't see anywhere in the settings to increase the vert fov beyond 74 (which is what it was before), and while I'm not doing 3 monitors, I was very happy with seeing ~115 horizontal degrees on a 16:10 display before this evening.

Everything still working on my side with PS2FOV v1.2, infantry FOV can still be increased to 100 vertical. Only thing that has changed is PS2 no longer limits horizontal FOV, so the vehicle horizontal FOV setting is more of a rough guideline now as it increases with wider aspect ratios.

Edit: The game kept crashing, did a check file, and after it reset my options it looks like some new menu options were added "Wide Screen view". Guess the patcher didn't patch something correctly or something was currupt.

New version 1.3:

-Updated for latest live PS2 changes.
-Aspect ratio fix deprecated, now natively supported in PS2 under the "Wide View Mode" option.
-Added version number to window title.
-Removed admin requirement, elevate as needed.

Anyway to centre the GUI?

Side note: Anyway to add better AA? Or make the game look better? I thought the game looked better then it does :/ Am I just use to BF4's beauty?

EDIT: So I see you can up the renderQuality (which takes a massive hit) - even my Titans struggle to do more than 2x with everything else maxed. I see there's a whole bunch of quality options you can boost, but I just think the engine a little lack-luster - I know they've always struggled with performance issues. I see you can't use SweetFx or you can't use mods to adjust the UI, so hopefully the game will be continually fixed.

Thanks a lot for the great work. Like a few others here I wanted to report that the application seems to need a small update fix to make it work properly again after the most recent patch on the 13'th of March 2014. Since then I've experienced that the vehicle FOV function seems to be broken. First-person FOV seems to still work for me at least. I don't know if the turret sensitivity was affected as I haven't gotten around to playing with any altered values for that yet.

A lot of players would greatly value if this could get updated and fixed. Going back to stock vehicle FOV feels like taping toilet rolls to my eyesockets...

Thanks for the kind words.

New version 1.4:

-Changed method of applying vehicle FOV for latest PS2 changes.
-Vehicle FOV is now vertical and applied immediately.
-Turret sensitivity control removed, not easily accessed with new approach and low turret sensitivity not an issue anymore.

I am very sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the patch just now that updated the whole client to 64bit just broke the application for both infantry and vehicles.
I'm trapped insdie that tiny tiny box again - HELP!!

I pray for my sanity that you will bother to update the application again. You have no idea how much the work is appreciated!

I'm a little confused, multi-monitor support appears to be native in terms of FoV for both infantry and vehicles, just tick the "Wide View Mode" option in the graphics menu. The x64 update will of broken SLI support though, because the exe name has changed, but you can use nvidia inspector to add the 2 new exe's to the old profile and get some of the performance back.

I think, I figured out a workaround for it. But it may be easier if we could see what this exe does actually.

Note that its not working on PTS nor on Live since the last update, probably it has something to do with the 64bit client.

Please update your fix if possible, it would be really appreciated. SOE put out the 64bit version. But even using the x86 executable (by copy&pasting&renaming right after the launcher started) will not bring back the FOV.

Are you working on an update, or did they screw around with everything again and a new method has got to be found?

Best regards!!

Hello Everyone,

im quite new to all of this.

i played Planetside 1 until about 1,5 years before PS2. I downloaded and started playing PS2 about 1 week ago, but my laptop is way to old to play with over 20fps or something.

I wanted to build a new PC for a long time and want to make Planetside 2 at Max Settings. Since i also need a new Screen for the new PC there are some questions.

1) Does Widescreen (2560x1080) work fully now? Or are there still any Bugs?
2) is 21:9 worth it?
2) can someone provide comparision pictures for 16:9 to 21:9 (not the eyefinity/Surroundview pictures that can be found on the site)
3) What Videocard do i need to play PS2 on Max Settings for either 1920:1080 or 2560x1080 ?

Thanks in Advance

In case this helps anyone, I have planetside 2 working on tri, without any fix software.

Just use windowed maximised mode, which bypasses the FoV limitation (for some reason it handles windowed maximised differently to fullscreen.

In-Game screenshot - I use a thing called Real Time Zoom to move the minimap onto the centre screen, along with this AHK script to make it transparent and borderless:
WinSet, Transparent, 200, Real Time Zoom by MurGee.com
WinSet, Style, -0xC00000, Real Time Zoom by MurGee.com
WinSet, AlwaysOnTop, on, Real Time Zoom by MurGee.com
I know this is probably pointless but the 32bit version is buggy as shit adn crashes every 5 mins. Please buddy if you see this could you release a updated version which is compatible with the 64bit client.

Cheers
