The issue is identical to what I read about State of Decay 2.

The game is built on UE4, supports ultrawide resolutions but via Vert-. Switching the FOV from X- to Y-based through Engine.ini does result in Hor+ but also leads to a much higher FOV compared to the default value. There's no slider or FOV value in the config files.
Changing hex values in the exe results in errors, although I may be doing it wrong.

Can anyone think of a solution? I guess it would be Cheat Engine based.

This will change the FOV but it is mega zoomed out and sucks :(
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

> %LOCALAPPDATA%\AVGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\

> Open: Engine.ini

> Add the following lines:

[/Script/Engine.LocalPlayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV

So yeah, it needs a proper fix this does not work/fix the issue it is basically un playable just like State Of Decay 2.

It's for sure fixable, we need a bit more time for the better 'fixers' here in the forum to find a fix. I will also have a look but my competence is far more limited compared to some other people in here.

I took these with my table loaded, but your solution achieves the same FOV without the need of Cheat Engine.

Nice work!

Do you think it's possible to remove the black bars during the cutscenes?

I too made a trainer. Hoping not to step on Jack's toes :), here it is as an alternative: https://drive.google.com/open?id=19ls-g ... 8eCpfDnvRG
With the game open, open the trainer and activate it with backspace. It removes pillarboxing (in cutscenes too). This also changes the FOV at will. It adds an offset you set to the current FOV.

EDIT: Here is the Cheat Engine CT if you prefer that. This way you know exactly what you're getting. With the EXE, you may get an antivirus warning, but I assure you it's ok. I make mods. Mostly to add freecams. See my other stuff here.

I'm getting a message from Windows Defender that the trainer fix is a Trojan (Trojan:Win32/Bitrep.A). Is this normal for trainers?

Every time a trainer is done with Cheat engine many antivirus see it as a trojan.
What you can and have to do prior to execute it is to test it with virustotal.
It will test your .exe with lots of antivirus found on the market.

Hey idk31,
With latest update your trainer doesn't work anymore.
Did you make it update proof with an aobscan or so ?
Again jackfuste you did a great job with your latest fix. It's working fine with an ideal FOV for me.
Thank you. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Ah okay, I am aware trainers tend to piss off AV software but I usually never get the AV alerts for them, this time I did so I got a little suspicious.

The EXE is fine. If you prefer the CT script file you can find it here. You'll need Cheat Engine.

I haven't seen any updates, but I tested it to check. Still works for me. It is AOBSCAN. So, barring major updates, it should still work. Here's the CT file if you wanna try that.

There's an annoying problem with this game.
I can run it in surround 3 screens and set the video to be in fullscreen mode (true fullscreen).
But every time i start the game it will set back to central display only so that i have to set it manually to widescreen each time.
I tried to force it in GameUserSettings.ini by adding these lines and to force the file read only but it doesn't work in any way.

Code:
FullscreenMode=0
LastConfirmedFullscreenMode=0
PreferredFullscreenMode=0

Any idea ?

Cool.
But sadly this game really sucks without Gamepad :(
FoV was horribly distorted on my 32:9 only sprinting had decent FoV. This and the horrible controlling made me uninstall the game quite fast.

Process Explorer found this:
Code:
r.FullScreenMode
Defines how we do full screen when requested (e.g. command line option -fullscreen or in ini [SystemSettings] fullscreen=true)
0: normal full screen (renders faster, more control over vsync, less GPU memory, 10bit color if possible)
1: windowed full screen (quick switch between applications and window mode, slight performance loss)
any other number behaves like 0

I put r.FullScreenMode=0 in there with what you had above, but it did nothing. You can try Alt+Enter or F11, but I think that just sets it to borderless. I tried a CE hack too, since that integer value should exist. Did not find that.

Finding the value should not be enough i guess.
Once done, maybe one have to call the function that set the display in fullscreen.
But thanks for your efforts any way idk31

Hey Jack, thanks for the updated exe. It's working great with one exception, it doesn't seem to remove the black bars during cutscenes. I could have sworn the first update you released did work for me. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hey Jack, thanks for the updated exe. It's working great with one exception, it doesn't seem to remove the black bars during cutscenes. I could have sworn the first update you released did work for me. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Could you please create a short tutorial how you altered the .exe for future reference purposes if you're not around and some new update comes out, and someone wishes to continue the work? Fishing stick vs fishing pole so to speak :)

:cheers:

sorry the bad news, but the cut-scenes are still not working in ws. I think I'll probably wait for a next Vampyr patch and then hope. But thank you for your work :thumbup:

Is it possible to get an updated exe, the black bar fix in the trainer doesn't work.
Thank you!

Hey guys,

just tried all the offered solutions/workarounds in this thread, sadly not a single one of them works... the fixed .exes fail at startup with an Ansel not found-error, while susahamat's fix crashes the entire game back to desktop, no matter in which order I start game and fix.
As soon as fix is running, the game crashes, and the fix shows "Cannot find value Number 3".

Edit: Correction, it was the FOV Fix that crashed the game, gonna try susahamat's trainer now.

Update:
So the trainer *technically* works, FOV can be increased, but sadly there's a massive bug:
As soon as FOV is changed either way, the entire screen begins to shake extremely, especially noticable when standing still, but even still visible when moving the camera/running around.

Update 2:

Found something that works, it's the Cheat Table (.ct file) from this Reddit archive:
