I've played a good portion of the game and am very disappointed that I was stuck at playing with 1024x768 resolution (For some reason I'm stuck with either 800x600, or 1024x768, I can't even access my native resolution of 1440x900, nor my eyefinity resolution of 4608x900) (the game was honestly so much fun I didn't really mind it with all the other settings maxed out) The game developers have stated they will not support resolutions above 1920x1080 so there is no official fix coming from them, still odd how I can't get my native resolution though. I use Flawless Widescreen A LOT and was hoping to see a fix come around on it sometime. I hope this is the right place to ask? Is there any way I can access the config file to alter the dimensions? Or perhaps someone, maybe Hayden, will make a fix? Thanks!

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Nvidia Surround - GTX 670 3-Way SLI:

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance looks and plays downright AWESOME on triple-monitor setups, as you can well tell from this example. The game does not officially support triple-monitor resolutions, so, I had to make use of Flawless Widescreen. A big shout out to HaYDeN here at WSGF for making this possible! Enjoy the example, and, for those of you that have triple-monitor setups, give it a try for yourself, yes? :triplewide:

I know Hayden was having a look, but he did say it's been a bitch to fix - so maybe we'll see something soon. Don't forget to donate, if you like the man's work.

Nah man, Hayden is Hayden. Looks like Km2 is just a valiant community member, trying to fix the game :) I know Hayden is pretty busy at the moment with real life stuff, but I'm pretty sure he's done the fix, just a matter of finding the time to incorporate it into his utility - also keep in mind that he has been working on other games prior to this, due to community requests etc :triplewide:

This one is pretty understandable. Pretty sad that it doesn't even so much as detect resolutions outside of 1080p/i. At least Dark Souls detected surround resolutions!

Yup, had to create a new login to add my support to this title. I imagine triple wide resolution would aid significantly in keeping track of what would otherwise be off-screen enemies. Plus, it would look killer I'm sure. My donation's ready.

I'm also holding out for a fix for the resolution. I can't even run it on one monitor because my native res is 2560x1440 and it will look blurry. I should have come here before I installed the game because they don't give you any sort of warning.

Edit: The fix posted below works for me, it allows me to play on one screen at my native res. I have given up on playing this game in surround.

Yeah it doesnt work for me. I already notifed Dario as well. I keep getting an application error as soon as i use the patch to set 2880x1620 resolution. When i restore the exe back to the original, it worls fine.

Any news on the FOV? This and the camera are the two biggest problems so far for me.

I believe they are referring to Eyefinity/Surround resolutions.

I talked to Helifax and he has the game but hasnt had time to even install it yet. He has a lot of stuff he works on. Very busy guy, and also active in helping create 3D fixs. He said he can hopefully get around to it when he gets some time. I will say that the game is really fun and I'm surprised it's not more popular.

Metal Gear fans, I wanted to bring to your attention some camera mods I came across.

There are two camera mods on this site by the same modder, Shigu: Wolf cam and Simple cam. Both greatly improve the unwieldy camera. Wolf has a much greater fov, while simple cam is the default fov but greatly improved autocentering. The improvement to me is substantial, therefore I donated to the modder.

http://z13.invisionfree.com/MetalGearRi ... howforum=3

Still holding out for triple wide support.

(BTW, how do I get my "i donated" banner. Multiple time donor here)

The I Donated badge is for people who donated $25 or more to the WSGF to help keep the site up and running. If you have donated more then $25 to the site then PM skipclarke and he'll sort you out.

Some caveats:

Button text is on the left hand screen.
Mouse clicks seem to not line up with the UI - will have to use keyboard.

Not a particularly easy fix, it could be fixed better I suspect but I doubt I'll spend anymore time on it.

Perfect in 21:9 2560x1080, pefect aspect ratio but hud very little stretched.

Image

Little bug in 3440x1440 (downsampling 21:9)

the hud is outside the screen except the map who is at the right place

Image

menu is perfect on 2560x1080 but zoomed in 3440x1440

Hayden, thanks so much. I've been waiting and waiting, hoping it could be done, and here it is.

The action so far is flawless in triple wide. I am obligated to donate for the second time this past week (Resident evil 4). Very well deserved in my opinion.

I plan to play the game to death. I've been waiting on an experience like this since Master Ninja mode on Ninja Gaiden II. There are a few graphical nitpicks in triple wide mostly related to HUD filter overlays. I know you said you were probably done working on this one, but I would be happy to continue the donations to get this title as close to perfect as possible. If you're willing, I'll gladly post some pics.

To any new comers to this title I recommend:

1) Change the camera in the options to "map centered," the default camera is intolerable. Make horizontal camera speed 10 and vertical 5
2) If you're running SLI, DSOG has the SLI setup (definite performance boost for me (GTX 690)).
3) Watch a youtube tutorial about the basics of gameplay (essentials things like dodging are not explained by the game)
4) A controller is highly recommended

Off to play, thanks Hayden

Help's if you don't use the pirated version... the fix only supports the latest version, cracked versions will be older

The error messaging I get in the Debug Console is

lua:340: Error in converting to wchar <arg 2>
error running function: ...\FWS_Plugins\GlobalDependencies\Scripts\StandardBase.

over and over, honestly I'm not sure which lines comes first.

Using Steam version of the game.

Wow, this game is so fantastic in triple-wide. The massive increased fov rectifies many of the shortcomings related to the games camera, letting the action absolutely sparkle. Let me try and help you guys out with what worked for me.

Previously I recommended the camera speed be dialed up to the max for horizontal, but with the increased fov in triple wide, i've slowed the speed to the lowest setting. Smooths things out and helps with zangeki. "map centered" camera option is a must.

I run i7-3770 @4.5ghz
GTX 690 recent drivers (332.21, haven't updated to the latest yet)
8 gb ram, SSD

I am running the latest steam version of MGR.
In game, I select 1920x1080, 16:9, Fullscreen.
I run all ingame options at max except MSAA must be x4 (or less). If I jump up to x8, my fps plummets from rock solid to single digits with 99% gpu usage on each gpu!! I've never seen that in any other game. (VRAM cap maybe, or optimization?)
I run nvidia inspector SLI profile, but it is not necessary (seems to eliminate microstutter for me).
I run flawless widescreen (thx Hayden) and run the game, alt tab in and out as Hayden states.

I get rock solid 50fps (remember MGR has weird porting issues. In HDMI, it caps refresh at 50hz in fullscreen. In windowed mode, I get 60fps rock solid, but it's not triple wide fov).

Key tips I've found:
If my desktop resolution is not set to 5888x1080p (bezel corrected), the fix doesn't work.
If I select any other resolution in game, I get a black screen on all monitors, but can hear the game in the background.
If my ingame grfx settings are too high (MSAA), it's a no go.

Good luck. Lemme know if I can help further. It's worth the effort, this ones a world beater.

Another quirk that steam forums suggest may be important, is that the game must be installed on C:

Thanks Hayden, this works great on 21:9 the only issue is that some of the lighting effects only display in a small box in the center of the screen and not in the full 21:9 window I assume that this is because the fix was designed for triple monitor setups.

Bought the game on christmas, couldn't get it to run. Troubleshooting found the problem--any primary display in landscape, game no likey. Problem is, 5x1 is counted as portrait. I had to plug in a TV just to play (putting me at a total 8 displays) because i didn't want to take 2 monitors down just to do 3x1L.

Has anybody gotten this working with 5x1p?

I can no longer get the Hayden fix to work. Now my 2 additional monitors (left and right) are blacked out. They center still works. You can try to change resolution, and you can see the game "try" to display those larger resolutions, but the monitors (eyefinity 5040x1650) won't do it.

I checked patch notes, MGR was updated in march of 2014. Not sure if that's why it wont work. Or maybe its CCC's fault. Either way, wish it still worked -_-

Okay, spoke with Hayden. Managed to figure out that AMD-CCC is not "returning the correct details about screens when you query them". ie- it reports 2 monitors when you have 3. This means you will have to set the screen details manually, which will fix my aforementioned problem from a couple of months ago.

To do so in Flawless Widescreen--

Settings/Configuration/Display Detection/ Override Display Detection (Manual). Then you enter the Total Width and Height for the array, then where the hud should be (which will be the same as the resolution of the single monitor in the center.)

Bam! It works again for team red.

I was wondering if anybody got this to work properly on a 21:9 display with 3440x1440 resolution.

No matter which settings I try in the display override section (Flawless) the game always has problems with the HUD. In some instances it is chopped off at the top and bottom and in others I managed to get it on screen but then the radar icons are totally off - as in the enemy markers are way more to the right side instead of being in the radar-square itself. Basically the radar is split into several parts.

Would be nice to play in 21:9 because the FOV is shitty enough and it's even worse when you are forced to play in 16:9 with black bars :(
