Microsoft at one point had plans to bridge Xbox and Windows gaming, but eventually killed them, because in cross-platform matches, console gamers couldn't hack it.

"The console players got destroyed every time," says Sood. "So much so that it would be embarrassing to the XBOX team in general had Microsoft launched this initiative.

Well you know if microsoft did a dreamcast and let us use mouse and keyboard in games, we wouldn't have this issue. But microsoft has said on more than one occasion that they don't want "another PC."

to me it's not about that, it's allow players to play the game how they want.

Since it currently cost a ton to use a keyboard and mouse on a console because it's not supported natively, many gamers aren't doing it. I think sionce the Xbox is based off of the windows kernel, they might as well buck up and let people play with mice and keyboards.

Oh, so he's "heard it from reliable sources", uh ?
As much as I genuinely despise consoles, it all sounds a litle too convenient when PC propaganda meets "luxury computer" market. And mocking Live when you think the future of gaming lies in an OS for handhelds, well...

Microsoft actually gave cross-platform MP a shot with Shadowrun - granted, it was a shallow, Vista-only game on the PC. And although mice & keyboards sure rule all in FPSs, there are other genres where a gamepad and low framerates are not an issue, so I'm not sure this is the true reason why the project is off the table - if it is. Not to mention there is no GFWL in "Unreal" (UT3?) and GoW is better known for its co-op MP. :|
