So I picked up Elven Legacy and it comes with a serial key for a downloadable copy of the game at GamersGate. It is like having your cake, and eating it too. Has anyone seen this before for games that do not require a Steamish service to play? |

...what's the catch? I don't think there is one. You have a game on disc with no copy protection, install and play. You also provide a serial for a downloadable copy should the need ever arrive. -Most people will never need the download because they have the disc. -GamersGate will get users to register their serial. Registered users are more likely to purchase GamersGate products. -Perhaps timed or permanent exclusivity agreements are in place? Per the insert: "Damaged, misplaced or forgotten discs are a thing of the past. By registering your purchased game (the CD/DVD ROM version) online, you'll always have access to a back up copy on our servers - anytime, anywhere." "Paradox Interactive has teamed up with GamersGate to offer you a free back-up digital copy online!" |

...what's the catch? Wow. A company that places high values on customer service! Please comment on the quality of the game when you can. If it's decent at all I'll put it on my buy list just to support these folks. |

Similarly, I got Wolverine on Blu-Ray tonight and it comes with the HD movie, a DVD disc version, and a digital copy. Three copies of the movie for $20. Neat. |
