American McGee's Alice was one of the most surprisingly good games ever, even at the time when it *wasn't* known that every other single game with American McGee's name on it would be a pile of steaming crap to the surprise of no one in particular. At this point, expecting anything with his involvement to be good is like expecting anything involving Uwe Boll or Sonic the Hedgehog to be good. |

It's a really old IP. I don't mind if he takes a whack at it; not like anyone else will. Either he makes a shit game, no one buys it, and it fades from our minds, or it'll be good and the Alice name will be back. |

After a Scrapland eveyone forgot and a Bad Day LA everyone puked on, what else could the guy do ? :? I'm more concerned about Tim Burton's project. There's a time where geniuses stop creating their very own stories and just keep hiring Johnny Depp it seems. Pity. Oh, and I for one kinda liked Uwe's Postal :wink: |

I don't have a problem with him making yet another shit game that quickly fades from the spotlight. But I do have a problem with him making one that has the potential to tarnish the memory of a game that was actually good. |

I don't have a problem with him making yet another shit game that quickly fades from the spotlight. But I do have a problem with him making one that has the potential to tarnish the memory of a game that was actually good. I often see this sentiment but never understand it... a new crappy game does not make the original any worse to play. I can see the arguement with movies or TV shows, where later installments are cannon and unavoidable (hello X-Files season 9), but in games... meh. Worth the shot to try and get it right, in my opinion. |

I didn't say it would make the original "worse to play." I said it could "tarnish the memory." These aren't the same thing. Just look at Sonic the Hedgehog - the franchise is an utter joke thanks to being driven into the ground with crap sequel after crap sequel. Or hell, Leisure Suit Larry, which only took one game to make the entire franchise go from fondly remembered classic adventure series to total embarrassment. |

The new Star Wars movies are exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. The damage they've done to the franchise is irreversible. Pretending they don't exist is a short-sighted solution that stops working if you, say, try to hold a conversation with another human being who doesn't also pretend they don't exist. Furthermore, there aren't any decent prints of the originals any more, and we have the existence of the newer versions to thank for that. Likewise, if a crappy Alice sequel gains sufficient infamy, you can rest assured GoG.com won't bother snatching up the original for digital distribution or anything like that. |

I highly doubt gog won't pick a game just because a recent sequel or next in the franchise isn't as great. They aren't about good new games after all. |

They're about good old games that will sell. If a franchise is known mainly for a crap sequel, then the originals are that much less likely to sell, and therefore that much less likely to be sold. |
