Has anyone either commercially or through freeware ever make a more modern version of Sim Earth? I haven't seen any and the feeling of absolute power over a planet is always fun.

No one ever had the guts afaik.
I'd looove to play a Sim Earth with top-notch graphics. Or as a Google Earth mod maybe ? :)
