Kinda want TDU2, but not prepared to put up with 4 activations of a game, even for a fiver. Doesn't matter whether they're revokable; I've got to really want something to put up with that DRM.

I hear the game sucks anyway.

As it turned out, Steam decided for me anyway. I was all set to buy it regardless (meh, what's a fiver?) when I got home from work, and it had gone up to £7.50. So I thought, "Bugger that.". ;)

I don't quite follow what the complaint about Facebook is. Couldn't you just not link your profile to Facebook? That's what I did. Or is there some incentive for linking that I don't know about?

TF2 achievements for making Youtube videos pissed me off more.

Complaint about Facebook = it's everywhere. It's inescapable. And the few places it is escapable quickly sign up to splash "join us on Facebook" all over their sites.

Although an idea occurred to me during the whole Anonymous/LulzSec thing... given the incredible about of info present on there... breaking Facebooks security would have been a nasty slap in the face about security of personal information online to millions of people - did they not try, or did they try and were unsuccessful?

...

edit:

Anyway, this is the SSS thread.

I just bit on Railworks 2 and some of the more interesting Steam related British DLC. Oh, and the American 'Big Boy' train, because I remember watching a documentary about that when I was a kid and thinking "Wow... I'd love to drive that."

Now I can, albeit in a game.

hmm... the Bad Company 2 pack for US$9.99... also has the skin DLC for 2.04. Contemplating if I should get that.

I'm waiting to see if they'll put Bulletstorm into their daily deal sale. That'd be one game I'd snag if the price is right.

Another day, another sale.

Torchlight -- US$2.99
Transformers: War for Cybertron -- US$7.49

Played neither... but definitely notables. Still waiting on Bulletstorm. C'mon, Steam/Epic! :P

I was on the fence for the two Bioshock game for 5 bucks each. But then I figure: I can wait until Infinite comes out and maybe there'll be another sale on the Bioshock games. Then again, the 2k Pack would be worthy to snag... just that it has one problem: Duke Forever :D

What's Bulletstorm actually like? And is it GfWL infected?

Yes, I believe Bulletstorm is infected w/ GfWL. I only have two games that uses it: SF4 and FlatOut Ultimate Carnage. No problems with it... yet. *knocks on wood*

What's it like? Different in terms of FPS gameplay. Outrageous methods to kill your enemies, kinda like how Duke Nukem should have been like in some respect. It's one of those games I really wanna try out. But since it was released w/ a US$60 pricetag, I opted out of it. Now it's $30 but I want to see it get reduced further as part of the Steam daily sales.

I hear it's got terrible use of foul language and profanities... but ... well... who am I to judge? I just play the game.

Eh, the language is just Epic Games trying to prove they're adults by acting peurile.

Which rather defeats the object. ;)

Also of note today is Trine for US$1.99, Serious Sam HD for US$7.99, and the DOOM pack for US$6.24.

There's a couple of things that I want to do to earn tickets but I do not have any beefy computers nearby to use it. Still far away from my gaming rig. Sad part is that by the time I get back, I'd be 1 day too late. The pain~ The pain~

I wonder if that other laptop can handle Trine...

Thinking of picking up Trine, trying the demo (I have 21 hours to decide). For some reason I didn't pick up torchlight yesterday.

EDIT: Nevermind, looked at screenshots, I remember trying it and not really caring for it. Not a huge fan of MMORPG style RPGs I prefer games like fallout.

EDIT2: Edit 1 was about torchlight.

Really? I liked Trine a bunch. Torchlight I didn't touch up on. I probably should have.

Looks like the other laptop is capable of handling Trine, thank goodness... and managed to get the achievement and earned a ticket.

Sorry the edit was about torchlight.

I downloaded Trine and it crashed at the end of the loading map page for the beginning every time, no matter what settings I used. So I will pass on it for now.

Franchise sale for Need for Speed. Bundle pack at US$34.99 and contains NFS Underground, Hot Pursuit, Shift, and Shift 2 Unleashed.

There's also the Deus Ex pack (US$2.49) which contains the Game of the Year edition and Invisible War.

And there's Monkey Island bundle for $7.49.

Lastly, Civ V for US$24.99... if you prefer that kind of game.

And for the Guild Wars players in us, the trilogy (Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall) is up for US$14.99, translating to 5 bucks per campaign. Tempting for me but... well, I already got enough accounts (4) as it is.

It is 5 bucks for the whole Deus Ex pack.

The whole pack is not necessary. Just get the original. It's a strong candidate for best game of all time.

Tempted by Guild Wars, as it seems to be the only Free to Play MMORPG which isn't either a) crippled without micropayments, b) crippled if you're not in Japan or c) crap.

That and the fact that I've just picked up Fallout New Vegas, as I was waiting for it to get cheap, and £8 was cheaper than Amazon.

Picked up the original and downloaded a DirectX 10 Renderer at the recommendation of Paradigm and played through the tutorial. Will probably start the game tomorrow.

Batman Arkham Asylum GotY for US$7.49... I'd mention Far Cry 2 but... I dunno... when I played that for a bit just to try it out, it didn't feel... right...

I bought Far Cry 2 on DVD when I spotted it for 99p once in a supermarket (think it was mispriced, but they had to honour it) and quickly wished I could take it back.

It's only saving grace is that patch 1.03 removed the phone-home DRM, and that it was one of the few games early on (post patches) to support triplewide with no faffing around.

I fancy playing Far Cry again, but *sigh* it's an Ubisoft game, and I'm still pissed at them for the DRM in AC2/HAWX2. OK, so it might just be one sale they've lost, which in the grand scheme of things matters to them not at all, but it makes me feel better.

Nothing I'm really interested in today.

Kind of wish I'd picked up Wings of Prey yesterday, but I know I'll barely play it. My combat flight sim days ended with Super EF2000, Falcon 4 and a short stop at Lock On: Modern Air Combat. Don't even have a working joystick any more.

The DRM in Far Cry 2 was small potatoes compared to the game's various other, well, let's call them issues.

However, Far Cry 3 is supposed to be a closer continuation to the original, so when that eventually gets released it should be pretty fun.

That's probably the only thing that caught my attention -- Far Cry 3 appearing to go back to its starting roots. But who knows what kind of crap Ubisoft is gonna attach to that one.

Yep, today's set of sales is rather dull. A pity really. You'd think they'd pull in some other bigger titles to put on sale... ones that can really boost the game's popularity or presence.

Notice how I said there were only two good things about it, and neither focused remotely on gameplay? ;)

Yes, while the concept of Far Cry 2 was sound, the implementation was appalling.

Finally got around to buy any Halflife-games that were missing on my Steam account (Old CD's are impossible to find!); HL1:Source+expansions and Ep2. Planning on a heavily modded Halflife-marathon next week, as I'm out of patience waiting for the Black Mesa mod :(

Also bought Borderlands DLC-pack for another coop-marathon this weekend :rockout

Another dull day for Steam sales.... but here are some notables:

Company of Hero pack -- US$12.49 (comes with CoH + Opposing Fronts + Tales of Valor). Price is nice but calculated wrong. CoH = 2.49, Op Fronts = 4.99, Tales of Valor = 4.99. 4.99 + 4.99 + 2.49 = 12.47.

Audiosurf -- US$1.49
Cities XL 2011 -- US$7.99
Quake pack -- US$7.49. I don't understand why they didn't include Q4 into the pack. It's Quake. Shouldn't it be inclusive?

I'd snag Quake or CoH... but I haven't played either in eons. CoH is another traditional RTS where you have to build structures to get higher level units. I can't be bothered to go through all that.

July 8th sale notables:

Amnesia -- US$4.99
Worms Reloaded -- US$4.99
Universe Sandbox -- US$4.99
Fallout 3 GotY -- US$10.19

Amnesia is very tempting right now. But I'm in the process of a computer overhaul. I could wait 'till Turkey Day (US holiday in Nov) or try to catch another daily deal with it. Same with Universe Sandbox. Oh what to do what to do...

For those who like the lowest prices, Amazon has the Dragon Knight Saga today for $15.99, $4 cheaper than the steam daily.

I know this is kinda late, but anyway:

It's because Quake 4 is not available on Steam, it's only available digitally on one store (and it's only for NA), I can't remember which one though.
It's weird, and it most likely has something to do with who has the publishing rights to the game (Activision/Bethesda Softworks).
