After learning what's involved in buying a DL version of a game, I will resist EA Loader, D2D and other such distribution methods as long as I have hard copy alternatives.

I strongly suggest buying then either from MatrixGames, where they have no DRM as such.
They are the best for digital download games. Of course they are more focused on strategy and wargames games.

Gamersgate is superb too...
