It honestly looks like they turned it into a standard shooter in order to release it... or maybe it took so long because they turned it into a standard shooter late in development.

The E3 video was very underwhelming I thought. I don't really care if they port it at this point.

Yeah, Alan Wake went from looking incredible, to looking fairly bland and boring and... dare I say it...? ...dumbed down. Whether that was a result of it being aimed at consoles I really wouldn't know.

At the present moment in time, I would suggest that Halo 3, Halo Wars, Alan Wake and Fable 2 (if any of them ever jump to PC, the first three are the most likely I think) would be Games for Windows Live Marketplace downloads only. That would give Microsoft a way of forcing people to use it.

The original Fable sold very well on PC didn't it? Thought I read that somewhere. A Fable 2 port seems most likely to me, but then I thought we would of heard of it by now.

I'm pretty sure it sold poorly on the PC. After all, there is no PC version of Fable 2 and that speaks a lot. I also remember Peter Molyneux saying the PC market is in total "disarray". That speaks even more about Fable success on PC platform.

Well I read the PC version sold well, so unless you know of facts stating otherwise I am going with my memory. And of course Molyneux stated that, he is a paid part of MS' new "rule the livingroom" and "casual gaming for all" strategy.

Microsoft stopped bringing over their big exclusives. It is possible that they use the Live model to distribute but I doubt it. The best hope is that they are just waiting for console sales of certain titles to reach a certain level before porting.

Oh MS has definately stopped caring about PC gaming on almost all levels, I said that myself earlier. I am just surprised Fable 2 was not an exception since I am pretty sure I read the original sold very well on PC.

Microsoft can easily change the opinion of PC gaming crowd and even surpass the Steam. All they need is a single exclusive killer game, such as Modern Warfare 3 or Halo 4. If that fails, they can always buy Valve, change Steam EULA, and require Steam users to pay monthly subscriptions. If people refuse to follow that, it's all good because they would rather have you on Xbox Live anyway.

Microsoft cannot buy Valve without them wanting to sell it, Valve is privately owned.
