Unfortunately 'they' are doing everything they can to rid all products of DVI for their HDCP-required HDMI replacement.
Careful on that adapter, might be specific to that card, arent they for integrating audio with the hdmi or such?
Yes. I wouldn't be surprised if the adaptor is specific to the 3870, but since it'll be being used with that card... ;)
Killing off DVI I think is really stupid. Killing it off for DisplayPort (when that finally takes off properly) isn't necessarily a bad idea, despite the fact that I'd prefer my connections to be screwed in, so they don't run the risk of the cable falling out at an inopportune moment.
Well, we'll see what happens. If I want to play Protected Content on my HDTV, I'll use my PS3. The PC is aimed at being lower-power than my gaming rig, while still providing enough juice to be able to play games on a 40" screen if I want to. 8) I'll try out the HDMI adaptor jobbie, but I can always go VGA, provided that it doesn't give me any headaches setting it up. DVI's great because, so far for me, I've never had a problem with it with respect to setting up positioning etc. I'm hoping that HDMI will be similarly painless...
