Extinction Agenda EXA.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda EX is an updated version of A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda. For the Xbox 360 this is the first release of the game. For the PC this version was released at a later time as a new game and owners of the existing game were offered a discount for a limited time.
The five original levels of the game were redesigned and rebalanced. There are also two entirely new levels with new items, enemies and mini-bosses. The new levels are fitted into the existing design and thus the story has also been rewritten. Textures are in a higher resolution and there is new dialogue (to complement the new Tarus character) and newly animated cut-scenes. In the original version characters had small boxes with their face during cut-scenes. These have now been replaced with larger, almost full-body shots. The existing enemies and bosses have been rebalanced with new AI. The character's leveling system and the achievements have been reworked as well. It introduces Tarus as an additional character with an own campaign. Compared to Ares, Tarus has a different combat style and new abilities. The Tarus campaign has its own story and a new soundtrack, but the level design and progress is identical for both characters.
