I wonder if there's an anti-cheat system in place. I'm interested in trying to center the HUD at least. I've been playing this on a single screen simply because the HUD is too far to the sides.

Yes.. I was wondering the same thing.....What I noticed is that d3d9.dll is directly used to calculate the resolution of the HUD... Also there are 2 processes active when starting the game...Not sure why..... What I could make so far is putting all the hud elements on the left monitor. It seems that the HUD is taken after the desktop resolution while the game resolution is not modified at all. I think this is the reason for the two processes. The hud is just an overlay over the game...

Still need to confirm it thou... It this would be the case than we would hack the overlay and not the actual game...So no ban there...or at least I think is like this:)

Best Regards,
Helifax

I highly doubt it uses two processes for that. I'll look into why it uses two in a bit. My guess is that one is used to monitor the other, or run some stuff separately (sandboxed). However, there could be any reason for this. I doubt one of them is resolution-related.

The game uses the desktop resolution to determine the aspect-ratio as well. If my desktop is 6056x1080 and I set the game to fullscreen 1920x1080, the game will be in fullscreen at 1920x1080, but it will use the aspect-ratio of the desktop, which is ridiculously wide for that res. The HUD placement will be correct since it's just going to the edges.

There is some tweaks :
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/951199-star-wars-the-old-republic/61343050
http://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/comments/na4rk/swtor_tweak_list_update_15_chat_bubbles_still_in/

Now, for example, you know how to turn on the antialiasing ;)

Maybe it's possible to do something about this %$@#& fixed HUD with the "he####_CharName_PlayerGUIState.ini"... ?

Yes I suspect as much! I think the game is sandboxed. You will see once you open CheatEngine 2 processes are found for SWTOR. One apparently is the actual game. The other one seems to point (more or less) to d3d9.dll..

Didn't have enough time to dig deeper than this...

There's no progress here, either. It's hard to work on this game when I end up just playing it for hours on end.

Ok I played a bit!

What I found..Managed to put the whole UI on the left.
Managed to move it the right BUT:

- only the graphical elements move (meaning the location of the buttons, where you click is still in the old place)
- moving it to the right cuts it where the 2nd monitor begins (because the rendering target is set to one monitor...)

I think I need to find another approach. What I mean is somehow minimize the gap between elements since the HUD is already centered in the 1st place;))

The HUD is very weird ...how it draws...

Well.. you know playing around in the memory zone:)) I will still look into it the next days...kinda hard not to want to play the game:)) For me at least..it draws me in:))

The whole Fov and aspect ratio is based on the resolution of the windows desktop...even for the hud....which makes it a little "non-standard" approach they used...

swtor.exe+107E8E8

Changing this to a positive number will move the left side of the HUD over, but it will cut off the right side of the HUD by the same amount.

Setting this to a negative number will change the width—but not the scale—and will essentially shrink it to fit the left monitor.

I.E., if your display is 5760 wide, setting it to -3840 will make it fit on the left monitor.

I suggest someone else take a look at this and see what they can come up with.

Other offsets of note:

swtor.exe+107E8F8 - Width of HUD
swtor.exe+107E8FC - Height of HUD

Changing these will shrink the HUD accordingly, but not center them. I tried searching nearby addresses for coordinates but found none.

The movable frames within the game, like the party ops frame and the chat, use a very different range of memory, so I doubt poking around in memory near those address will provide anything useful.

They are static.

Here is some information I probably should have provided with that post.

Since there are two swtor.exe processes choose the one with the lower process ID.

Add address manually, make sure it's set to Float, and then paste in "swtor.exe+107E8E8"

It should add the address and the resulting value will be 0.

Likewise, the other two should have values based on your resolution.

Including swtor.exe in the address is important.

Just to tease some of you!
Almost there!!! Everything is centered!!!! but have some minor annoyances... like all the nameplates being shifted to the right for example.

Don't believe me? Here are some teasers;))

Enjoy!!! The preview:)

Try it out and let me know.

It works okay here.

It's based on a couple offsets I found and an offset that helifax found, so he gets half the credit. :)

I tested it, works like a charm. Good work.
But is it save to use ? not that we get a ban, would be nice if bioware would aprove it.

I think it should pretty safe! As we don't actually affect the client (in anyway related with the content of the game) it should be safe. I have never heard of somebody getting banned because he used a tool like this. I might be wrong thou:))

There's always a risk unfortunately. I hope no one ever does get banned because of it but I can't make any guarantee.

I will be using this myself so I'll let you know if anything happens.

Which version of the game do you have?

Did you install via retail, download from their site, or via Origin?

I bought mine retail but I installed it by downloading from their site.

When you start Widescreen Fixer and choose the game from the list, without enabling it, it should show the left HUD position, the HUD width, and the base address. What does it show for you?

Because of the patch today the game's version is now 1.0.2

I installed it from their website.

Yeah it shows: Game Running, Fix Enabled, Left HUD Position, HUD width, Base address.

Test version updated to support v1.0.2.

The HUD offsets might not be static so try it out and let me know if it works for you or not.

For the settings, you just need to set them to your resolution, and your corrected resolution if you use bezel management.

If you do NOT use bezel management and have three 1920x1080 screens, then set BOTH Standard and Corrected resolutions to 5760x1080.

If you do use bezel management, have three 1920x1080 screens, and your corrected resolution is something like 6056x1080 (which is mine), then set the Standard resolution to 5760x1080 and the Corrected resolution to 6056x1080.

The settings probably aren't detailed enough and probably confusing. If you have suggestion on how to word it better and/or make it more user-friendly, please let me know. Thanks.

The index one you can ignore. It should fix itself next time you close and start the app.

The other one I thought I had fixed. Are you replacing the copy on your harddrive with everything inside the archive file? With the test version it's best to overwrite all existing DLLs because of how much changes.

You can pretty much ignore both. I'll work on fixing these when I get a chance.

Sure. In the future, you typically just need to paste the top section of it (the stuff between all the asterisks). You can also PM me it as well to keep it less cluttered here.

Which? The ReadProcessMemory() error? It only happens when you activate it?

Edit:

I see. I managed to get this to happen if I started Widescreen Fixer prior to starting the game.

It has to do with one process not being started yet.

process1 starts
Widescreen Fixer checks if this is the right process; it's not and it tries to get the next process, which doesn't exist yet and throws an exception
process2 starts
Widescreen Fixer checks again and it's fine

I'll have to add in a delay.

Edit 2:

I updated the test version again.
https://www.widescreenfixer.org/test.php

Let me know if it still throws an exception when you start it up.

I also fixed the system tray icon not existing. When I was cleaning everything up with StyleCop I broke it. Check your task manager to make sure you don't have a bunch of copies running (although you wouldn't be able to overwrite the file if it were running in the background).

Edit 3:

An exception is still thrown sometimes when you exit the game while Widescreen Fixer is still running.
I have a solution for this but I probably won't have a chance to implement it today.

That issue does not happen to me.

What graphics settings are you using? Fullscreen, Windowed, Fullscreen Window

Any other setting might be helpful.

Thanks for this! Great work.

I did notice that my mission tooltips on the galaxy map disappear with the fix enabled. Is this just me?

The same thing happens to me. The quick way to fix this is to toggle the fix off when in the galaxy map and toggle it back on afterwards. Is not gamebreaking at least ofr me!:) I didn't manage the hud to dissapear completly like posted above thou....

Have you tried to put the same resolution of 5760 on both the standard and the corrected resolution? If this is working than I believe the problem is when trying to calculate the offset. 5936 divided by 3 is 1978.6666666666666666666666666667 so is not an integer. So this might be the problem.

If is working for the non bezel corrected resolution, try to create another bezel corrected resolution like 5934x1080. I do believe this should work:)

Best Regards,
helifax

Yeah It is doing the same thing when it is on 5760x1080 I'm going to repair the game and hopefully that will work. Maybe even delete the config file. So I think I know why its not working now. I downloaded a patch and my games version is now 1.0.2a lol

From their website: "In addition, earlier today we deployed a patch (1.0.2a) that resolved a client crash upon character selection that some users were experiencing. The full patch note reads:"

I think the galaxy map disappearing may have to do with how you play the game?

I play the game in a fullscreen window. Perhaps when you play in regular fullscreen things go wrong?

Anyway, helifax, do you want to take over on the v1.0.2a update? Unfortunately I started a pretty major overhaul to the plugin system earlier and I can't update the plugin for SWTOR at the moment.

Dopefish and Helifax thank you for this fix. I am unfortunately running into problems on my end. When I enable the fix it will make everything disappears and bringing up the map or anything else does not resolve it. I am able to click on the UI icons where they should be and effects do happen. I also tried setting my corrected resolution to 1920x1080 and all the UI shifts to the left monitor where it is visible and usable. I am not certain if this is because of the 1.0.2a update or what, but I am running 5760x1080 and I have the latest nvidia beta drivers. I am also getting a Microsoft .NET Framework error when ever I start SWTOR with the fixer. I have just hit continue, which might be part of the problem as well.

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.

It's not working because the game was patched.

Whenever there is a new version of a game, the tool will stop working until the offsets are updated.

1.Yes maybe things in Fullscreen do change..and that is why the galaxy map has no bubble thing!
2. I will adapt it for 1.2.0a but this evening (still morning here at the time of writing). So it will take a while.

Curios how they rolled 2 patches in the same day:)) Last night everything was working:)) but I was on 1.2.0 :))

Edit: I see they already pushed a 1.2.0.b today...

I ended up just branching my current codebase off and working on the current test version instead.

I updated it to support v1.0.2b and I think I eliminated any start up exception and any exception thrown when you exit a game.

Let me know if this version works well.

I am getting the issue with the galaxy map now.

[edit]Nevermind, this offset actually controls the entire width of the HUD. I'm going to work further on finding the galaxy bubbles.

The reason why it breaks is that it uses the width of the screen to determine how the bubbles appear.

It needs the full width of the display.

I need to think of a way to change this without creating a code-cave.

Yes! If you actually look, you will see that the bubble if moved to the right with the same offset used to center the hud, but outside the "renderable" area which is the resolution of a single monitor and is positioned on the center monitor:)
I tried a few things myself the other day but none yielded any results...

If you do not try to center the HUD, and instead just change the width, you will get the bubble to swap sides from the right to the left, and eventually the right side of the bubble will start getting cut off. However, the bubble does not re-position itself when you shrink the width of the HUD.

I wonder if there is a different offset for the width of the bubble.

Just signed up to say thank you for this fix!
Its totally awesome, I hope you keep it up-todate as you've said it requires fixing if they patch the game (They have said they are going to patch the game once a week, not including hotfix's).

Once again thank you, this is great atleast until they make the UI a bit better and allow moving frames, etc (Used to EVE, where I could move everything easy)

Is it correct that my left and right side monitor produce the "fishlens/stretching" effect? Is this normal.
It's hard to tell from the screenshot in the detailed report

Cheers
Ballza

Hello! and welcome!

I am glad that you like the tool. Yes that is normal for the left & right monitor to create the fish eye effect. That is how eyefinity/surround works;))

I just uploaded a new test version.

All it really does is finally get rid of the ReadProcessMemory exception by catching its own exception.

https://www.widescreenfixer.org/test.php

You can read the details of this one under SVN log revision 208.

What does Widescreen Fixer say for the left hud position, hud width, and base address?

I have the latest patch you guys have done and it's working flawlessly. Thank you both for all the hard work your putting into this.

Howdy,

I really appreciate the tool. I've been using it for a year in various CoD games, and I'm excited it'll finally let me play SWTOR in widescreen. When activating it today, the HUD is off to the right by maybe 100 pixels? It's infinitely better than the default, but the minimap and quest log are caught in the split between monitors.

Hopefully useful information:

Surround, 5760 x 1080, no bezel correction
Running fixer as an admin.

The tool reports:
Left HUD Position 2068
HUD Width as 1920
Base Address of 0x270000

Also, I'm sure this is a limitation of it, but is there any way to move the chat windows outside of the central monitor? The biggest reason I wanted to go surround instead of just playing on the center monitor was to be able to drag chat windows over there.

Ooops -- hitting the gear icon next to the game and correcting my resolution (taking out the bezel?) fixed the HUD. Thanks for the great product.

I am sorry to say...but that is not possible...because the whole render area for the hud is the resolution of one monitor.. so basically you cannot go with the chat on another monitor...
I guess you can still disable the fix and have everything in the original state and drag the chat window to the central monitor and for party frames use the Operation frames that can also be dragged:)
It will be like this until they actually implement a way to position everything on your screen so we won't need any tool to center the hud;))

Best Regards

There is plans to make the whole HUD modular, so you can move things around the way that you want. I have not seen anything that would say when it will happen though. It was something they said they were working on in the beta, but since release I haven't seen any official word on it.

Any hope for P/L/P setups to work? Or is that something entirely different?

Fixer seems to be working with patch 1.0.2c in that the game spans across all screens and there are no errors or crashes.. I just got in to the surround setup yesterday and I have spent a pretty good chunk of time fiddling with it. You guys seem to have your hud centered on the center screen but I have not been successful in achieving that. In Widescreen fixer my standard res is 5760 x 1080 and my corrected res is 6056 x 1080. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Did you enable the tool? by pressing the "*" key or the one defined by you in the settings of Widescreen Fixer?

The fix is still working. No update needed.

If your resolution is a bit off, just click the gear icon next to the game name drop down, and adjust your resolution. Mine was a bit off yesterday, I guess it was assuming bezel correction, and once I told it my resolution was 5760 it works like a champ. And still works today.

I have to disable it on the galaxy map to get tooltips, and I can't double click on my character at the selection screen to play. I have to click and then click play. Pretty minor issues, though.

Double-clicking your character seems to be hit or miss. Even without the fix, sometimes I just can't double-click. I already got into the habit of clicking play.

Widescreen Fixer still works with the latest version.

Does it list your HUD width on the tool itself?

Even if you do not enable it, it should still list the width of your HUD.

Got the fix working but when I enter my Fixed resolution its still off centered. Its a little too far to the right.

EDIT: Got it working 100%. Just switched both to 5760x1080 and it seems to work. Great job on the fix!

There's no info in the DR about the screen change for cut-scenes? Are there both pre-rendered movies and in-game? How are they handled? Helifax, can you update the DR with the info. I realize it may be impossible to get screens for that, given the nature of an MMO. Is the only flaw in the game the centered HUD?

Other than the intro movie (and maybe others that I haven't seen yet) every cutscene is rendered with the engine. The intro video is played on the center screen.

It is handled properly. However sometimes they can be hilarious because you can tell the cutscenes weren't designed with such wide aspect-ratios in mind. You can see characters being staged for upcoming scenes, sometimes they are facing the wrong direction, sometimes they move awkwardly, etc. But it's only on the side screens and it doesn't affect the central cutscene or its focus.

The only flaw I can really see is the HUD not being centered.

I average around 15-25 FPS at 6056x1080 with all game settings maxed. If I set shader quality to low, I can get it to go up to about 40-45 FPS.

They already put out a statement that they're working on the performance issues, so I think there will be some gains.

Except for occasionally where I seem to get some corrupted geometry that completely tanks the frame rate, I get a pretty consistent 60fps, but I'm running a pair of 580's.
I've also very occasionally started the game and for no apparent reason had much poorer frame rates.

Judging by the forums, there is something going on with frame rate that's not directly related to graphics, or CPU performance, I'd guess it's related to the corrupted graphics I see occasionally.

I'm running the game at near on 60fps everywhere on 1 5870 2gig.

6028x1080 windowed.

CCC set to defaults.

Bloom: OFF
Conversation DOF: OFF
Texture Quality: High
Shader Complexity: High
Character LOD: High
Texture anisotropy : LOW (this was my issue)
Shadows: Low
Grass 10%
Tree: 60%

SWTOR still looks great and also runs very smooth, happy with how it runs and looks.

My FPS is buttery smooth all the time, except for when I exit the galaxy map. Alt-tabbing to the desktop and back fixes this but it's the only place I would even notice less than max fps. I should probably just update my drivers as I haven't done so since the end of the beta...

I have huge issues with audio. Whenever the game has to load new audio, the FPS drops drastically. It gets worse after playing for a few hours, so I often need to quit and run the game again.

Anybody else have this issue?

I'm running 5x1 portrait and when I enable the fix everything shrinks to the left (Left HUD Position stays at 0).

Am I doing something wrong? I can get it to change widths by hitting the hotkey i just cant get "Left HUD Position" to change to something greater than zero.

Thanks

Quasi

Try this version that I just uploaded.

What video card configuration do you have?

One reason for this is that I do not currently account for 5 monitors.

If you have NVIDIA, it should automatically detect the right values.

Ati 5870 E6 with the samsung md230 moitors (5400x1920 - 5660x1920 with bezel comp on, ~60 pixels per bezel)

I'm getting an exception error on the fixer when I start the game now

"Value cannot be null."
"Paramter name: value."

Parameter name: value

at System.BitConverter.ToSingle(Byte[] value, Int32 startIndex)

at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.TimerNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

But if I leave the error up and run the game anyway it still leaves "Left HUD Position" at zero.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

In the configuration window I'm putting 2400 x 1920 for the standard and 5660 x 1920 for the corrected. the Hud goes to 2400 wide , it just does it at the left of my screen. When I reverse the numbers (5660 standard and 2400 corrected) it just does the opposite - 2400 starting from HUD position 0 when fix not enable and 5660 when enabled.

Is it possible to just put a manual entry for "Left HUD Position"? Or maybe a check box to manually override what the Fixer is calculating to center it?

Redownload it.

There is a checkbox to disable it.

For the input boxes, you should put in a non-bezel corrected resolution and then a bezel-corrected resolution. If you do not use bezel-correction, then set those two boxes to the same as the uncorrected ones.

For example,
If your desktop is 5660 x 1920, and you do not use bezel-management, then set both sets of boxes to that res.

If you do, then put the corrected res in the bottom text boxes.

I feel like I'm being dense.

When I put 5400 x 1920 in the standard and 5660 x 1920 in the corrected, then when i hit the hot key in game my hud shrinks to the left by about 260 pixels. When I put 2400 x 1920 then when I hit the hotkey the hud shrinks to 2400 wide but it is on the left.

Since it shrinks the hud to a custom size now ( iwanted 2400 wide and it does that when I enter 2400 in the standard width) but just doesn't seem to do the (old width- new width)/2 for a new "Left HUD Postion" then a check box so I could manually enter "Left HUD Position" (in my case it would be 1630) since there seems to be a problem calculating "Left HUD Position" for my setup.

Is there no one else running 5x1 portrait with this problem?

Thank you for all your time in this.

edit - oh yeah - it doesn't crash anymore :)

I plan on adding support for Eyefinity soon. It will automatically detect how many displays you have and set everything automatically.

Right now only NVIDIA Surround and basic Windows coordinates are supported.

If it takes too long, I could always add a display count setting that will fix it.

It seems to work great, it just doesn't calculate the "Left HUD Position" offset. Can you add an entry for the HUD offset? In an earlier post you found where it was so it seems like you could just add a box for manual entry.

I figure there is some kind of memory editor I could find it and do it manually but it just seems you have a tool that is already doing that and to me, a non-programmer, it seems like it would be easy to add a text box for us to do it manually.

After playing for weeks with it like that I was excited to finally find this tool - I can wait another few weeks if thats what it takes. Maybe you could tell me what the new offset is for the latest swtor version? It would help with doing it manually until there is a permanent fix in your Fixer.

Thanks again.

Hi, I hope I'm not distracting from the major topic of centering HUDs too much, but my major concern is what I consider a weird perspective on my three monitors, especially on the far sides on the action. I tried to post a few jpgs to show what Im talking about. In the first, there's a stationary player on a speeder; if I look in a different direction though, the speeder and player looks really large; like its a lot closer to me than he is. When I watch other videos of widescreen play, I don't think I notice this difference in size, buts its my first time with a multi monitor setup so I might have some things to learn.

My normal resolution is 1920X1080 and I'm using Bezel corrected of 6020X1080 if thats necessary to state, I'm just trying to setup the game to look it's best, any thoughts?

Stretching on the sides is normal in almost every game.

The newest version of Widescreen Fixer doesn't seem to be working any longer, does anyone know if that small patch today changed it? It shows that the Game is running, the fix is enabled.. but left HUD position stays at 0. The HUD width shows at the matching resolution - 5976. Any ideas?

Good news for those who wanted a centered HUD. One of the upcoming updates to the game will feature the ability to customize their HUD. And it is not limited to the scale size of the HUD elements but rather... its placement! Followed the news via Blue's News to their official site and then to their video trailer here:

http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/coming-star-wars-old-republic

Looks like there won't be a need for a fixer if what we're expecting holds out. In either case, it's great that the devs are listening and that this solution (a very good solution) is being implemented. HUD customizing FTW!

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, thank goodness they came out with something official. I will never forget the time and effort but in by Dopefish and Helifax!

Still need the fix. They just showed what is planned in future updates, but soon we wont need them.

EDIT: I just verified that the latest patch has broke the fix, unfortunately. Hopefully we will get a new update soon.

[quote]^ SO is that Hud stuff working right now? Or are we still going to need a fix? Because in 1.1 I get lockups and hard locks in surround and crazy weird graphical glitches, as well as my hud isnt centered (Obviously).

Still need the fix. They just showed what is planned in future updates, but soon we wont need them.

EDIT: I just verified that the latest patch has broke the fix, unfortunately. Hopefully we will get a new update soon.

There has been a fix since yesterday. for 1.1.0. http://www.widescreenfixer.org/test.php. I probably should have checked before posting.

EDIT: Cant get it working at all. When I hit * it just turns it on with doing nothing. Sent him an email.

It's broken with the quick patch they did for the PVP exploits,
Difficult for him to stay up to date with all the patches.

Sorry for the delay. A new test version with support for v1.1.0a is up for download.

https://www.widescreenfixer.org/test.php

Tip: in the future, if you ever see the game getting a patch or files are being downloaded, assume that Widescreen Fixer will no longer work. The best thing to do in that case is get ahold of me through email or twitter and let me know. While I typically get a ton of email whenever there is a new version out, it's better than not knowing there's a new version at all. it also gives me a chance to personally reply to each email letting them know that an update was released. :)

I just downloaded the new version 3.0.233, when I hit the hotkey to enable the fix the game instantly closes and drops me on the desktop.

I am running it as administer, Eyefinity using HD6970 on a 3x1 landscape.

So gotta admit I am a complete noob to the triple monitor thing and well having an issue with the fixer. DL'd the latest client got fixer running. But when I activate it nothing happens. I am running SWTOR on 2 GTX560ti with 3 monitors. Heres where it shows how new I am. Should I be running the game in windowed mode. Fullscreen windowed or Fullscreen mode. I have tried all three and cant get it to work. Also the only way I can activate the fixer is to click on it so that it recognizes me pressing the * key.

Thanks for all your help and awesome job on everything so far. I look forward to seeing what I should be doing

Here's some information:

Widescreen Fixer needs to be run as admin.
Make sure you configure the plugin first. It uses automatic detection by default (which only works correctly for NVIDIA users at the moment). You might need to disable automatic detection and input your own values.
The hotkey should work whether you have Widescreen Fixer in focus or not. This may be related to running as admin.
It doesn't matter whether you run the game Windowed, Fullscreen, or Fullscreen Window.
When the game is running, Widescreen Fixer should have two HUD values shown. One is for the left-side location of the HUD and the other is the width of the HUD, both in pixels. By default, when the fix is not enabled, the left side should say 0 and the width should be equal to the horizontal resolution you have the game set to. Verify this before enabling the fix. If either value is not correct before enabled, then chances are something is wrong with Widescreen Fixer.

Firstly thanks for the answers and being patient with the new guy.

So here's where I am. I have got widescreen fixer running in admin and that solved alot of the probs. However, the hud dissappears offa the screen when I activate it and the screen gets no bigger.

I have 3 monitors that are 1920*1080

This is what I did. went to the cog and entered the following . Display count = 3, standard resolution 1920X 1080 (also tried 5860X 1080), and corrected resolution 5860X1081. Also made sure was game version V1.1.0a

any suggestions or am I entering the info in wrong.

Also I am rocking win 7 if that could be an issue in itself

Thanks again

Your normal resolution should be 5760x1080. Enter this under the standard resolution.

If you are using bezel-management, enter the corrected resolution into the next set of boxes. Otherwise, set those to 5760x1080, as well.

When enabled, it should show the left-side HUD as 1920 and the HUD width as 1920.

Hey thanks for this. You good sir (I think ya are anyways) are a genius. The only thing left is that the program doesnt make my side 2 monitors to work, all I can do is change it to windowed mode and "drag" the game across all three monitors. If ya have any ideas to fix that it would be awesome.

Take care and thanks for the third time

The fix for SWTOR only centers the HUD. It does not interact with the game's ability to set a resolution.

Strange, the last 4 builds of this have worked great for me. But this one makes my UI disappear and then crashes the game. I have loaded it twice and am doing everything exactly as before, but it just keeps crashing the game.

Let me stress this:

First, If it's not working right for you, please post the values of "Left HUD Position" and "HUD Width" prior to activating the fix.

Second, it's a good idea to always go back into the settings and reconfigure the plugin after each update.

Im running 3 screens at 5040x1050. I have the settings for this and have v1.1.0a picked.

Prior to activating widscreen fixer says: Left HUD position: 0, HUD width 5040.

After activating the left HUD position is 1680 and the HUD width is 1680.

Does that indicate any problems?

thanks for your help.

No, that sounds like it should be working fine.

Are you running it as Administrator?

Running it as administrator didnt make any difference.

Strange that the last three or four worked but this one is crashing the game, and that no one else is chiming in. Making it appear that its only happening to me. I wonder if the file got corrupted or something.

K, good news for me, its working now. I reloaded the program and started over.

The only difference from the last few failed attempts in using it is that the other times after the initial installation I tried to run it with "automatic detect" the first time running it. After that I made manual entries for the resolutions.

This time, I downloaded the program and immediately changed it from auto to manual and entered the resolutions. Then right away it worked good.

So either twice I had a corrupted download, or something about starting it in auto detect with a 5040x1050 setup screws it up.

Thanks for your help and this awesome program.

Auto-detection only works for NVIDIA users at the moment. It won't be correct for AMD users. Support will be coming soon I hope.

As of patch 1.1 I've been unable to get multiscreen high resolutions to work on this game. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Anytime i increase the resolutions to span multiple monitors it instantly goes to a blank screen and locks up. I believe it has something to do with the SLI driver support in game.

No problem here. Using the 290.53 nvidia beta driver (I do believe that is the number of the latest nvidia driver). Be sure to select version1.1.0a from the tool and not try to use it in other game version;))

I'm actually talking about the game itself not the HUD. ever since the 1.1 patch I open the game and it freezes on the initial loading screen when i attempt to start it on multiple monitors.

Now after 1.1b all 3 monitors remain on and the middle screen is orange before going black and the computer freezes. I'm using the latest 290.53 drivers.

before 1.1 I had no issues using triple monitors at 5760x1200.

It's already up. ;)

https://www.widescreenfixer.org/test.php

Getting a patch out just depends on my sleep schedule and when I'm not at work. If I'm not at work and I'm awake when a patch comes out, I can have it updated in less than 15-30 minutes. If I'm asleep or at work then I generally fix it as soon as I can.

Anyone else having issues with the patch? I have an issue where the load screens randomly gets all jumbled up with random graphics. When this happens my monitors lose signal and I have to reboot my PC. It happened a few times last night and just happened again. I'm using the latest version (1/25 build).

No issues here... What you are describing sounds like a driver issue though... Run the mod around 5 hours 2 days ago.... and everything was smooth.

I think it's just the offset being changed when there's a patch, it would be nice if it was possible for us to insert the new offsets ourselves manually. I've grown so dependent on it I can't play without it running :)

Thank you so much for this software.

The only thing that I wish it could fix is FOV issue (i think this is FOV issue, new to 3monitor widescgreen gaming).

When i look into the side monitors, objects appear distorted and a lot closer than they are when i turn to have them in the middle monitor.

I believe some games have FOV adjustments that fix that? Can your tool make such a fix for this game?

Thanks.

P.S. Running 5760x1080 with Nvidia.

My current version of the Fixer is no longer working with the patch today (the 14th). Just wanted to see if there was an eta on the updated version? I wanted to say thanks for all the work on it as I have really enjoyed SWTOR, but it is impossible to play without your widescreen fixer. I don't know if/when Bioware is going to implement the ability to move and pin in game windows and UI, but this fix is essential for all of us running triple screens playing Star Wars.

I'm aware of the update and have it fixed in SVN.

Unfortunately the update came out while I was in the middle of a plugin API overhaul.

I'm currently porting all of the game plugins to the new API and as soon as it's done I'll upload a new version.

It will probably take another hour or two to finish up. I apologize for the delay.

Sorry it took longer than expected.

My mind went blank on converting a few plugins.

Anyway, they're all done.

It's a pretty major change within the code, so I wouldn't be surprised if everything starts breaking and falling apart.

I've uploaded the new version with support for v1.1.3.

http://www.widescreenfixer.org/

Let me know how it works out for you.

Hi dopefish,

I am not sure if just me .. but with SWTOR the new 14th version with the new GUI is not working for me.
I have a Windows 7 system. I open the program, select SWTOR go into the options to make sure it's set to the 14th,

Open SWTOR client and it does not work .. Then I look in my Task Manager and the Widescreen program is not responding. I tried this 3 pr 4 times.. even with the game open and it seems that when it tries to recognize the game the program stops working and goes into Not Responding state.

Any thoughts
Nub

I am having the same issue. There are two patches today, one appears to be somewhat of a hotfix. Dopefish -- if you were testing with an old copy of SWTOR, then this might be the issue. Your app is actually hanging when SWTOR runs AND star wars the old republic is selected as the game.

seems like the version I just downloaded is fixed. I downloaded right after Dopefish's update and it was giving an error when I went to turn on the Fixer, but just worked fine with new download

Not sure how it's working for you ..
I've downloaded the latest one .. and still getting the Not Responding message when I run SWTOR.

I've deleted all old copies, restarted the PC 3 times.. lol. Nothing else I can figure to do.

Same boat here, downloaded the latest client, hangs when I start Star Wars (have to select Star Wars).

Running Windows 7.

SWTOR released a second patch today as well.

Tried restarting a bunch of times, no avail.

I just uploaded a new version that uses a different method of figuring out which process is the right one.

Redownload it, try it out, and let me know. Thanks.

Newest update is working fine. Last one was crashing out but seems to be resolved now.

The new version now no longer crashes HOWEVER

The bezel correction is not quite right. The app correctly detected my bezel resolution of 5955x1080 default, but the UI was skewed to the right. I manually set the bezel mode to 5900x1080 and this corrected my issue. Not sure why I had to set the bezel correction to something other than what my SWTOR/desktop is set at.

Are your displays all the same resolution?

There's a hidden button in the lower-right corner of the main application just above the borders for the groupbox.
You'll know when you find it because it the mouse cursor will change.

Click that button and either take a screenshot of that window or type it out here.

If you have NVIDIA it should be detecting it just fine.

It seems that after a machine reboot, the issue no longer occurs. However, the interesting thing is... if I unselect "detect automatically," but leave the settings the same as what autodetect found in the middle of the game, the UI shifts to the right.

Either way, here's a copy of the files you asked for.

Hmm.

I'm trying to understand this.

Your desktop resolution is 5955x1080?

So (5955 - 5760) / 2 = Bezel spacing on each side = 97.5 pixels.

The left-side HUD should be placed at 2017.5 pixels, and the width should be 1920, which places the right-side HUD at 3937.5. Add 97.5 to that, and then 1920 for the width of the right monitor, and you get 5955.

It showing 1990 for the left-side HUD position is... odd.

Do you have more bezel-correction on one side?

It's possible to independently control the bezel amount on each side.

Is this utility only for multi screens?

I have one screen. I run Windows 7. Windows native resolution is 1920x1080.

I set the display to 1, and try to adjust the resolution, but nothing happens when I enable widescreen.

Does the game have to be running in windowed mode, or fullscreen?

Tried going with the auto detect, and tried playing with different resolution settings, but there is never any noticable effect on the screen.

This fix is only for multiple screens. It just centers the HUD onto the center monitor. If you use only one screen there's nothing to gain from it.

Ah, OK. Bummer. I remember with WoW there was something you could configure to have your pullback be more than what the game actually allowed you to set. Would be nice with SWTOR to have that as well.

Hmm, might be time to invest in that second monitor ...

Pullback?

Like how far you can zoom out?

You can do that from the game already. Just go to the settings and find the one that lets you control the zoom range. Set it to 100% and zoom way out.

Also, my desktop resolution is actually only 5760x1080. The game resolution is higher (which when I alt tab, causes my desktop to mirror the 5955x1080 temporarily). My setup is awesomely complex for little reason other than making SWTOR look a bit better.

Yes, I have unlinked the bezel correction in the NVIDIA properties and my left bezel is adjusted differently than my right. It was easier to do that than to keep f*&@ing with the stand

Sorry for the delay. If a game patch is going to come out then it will almost always come out while I'm asleep.

Widescreen Fixer has been updated to support v1.1.4.

Good day.

I have been using Widescreen Fixer for many games. The latest update downloaded today in an effort to use the SWTOR update fails to launch. Prior to this latest update clicking on settings within Fixer for SWTOR would crash WSF as well. I have confirmed this behavior with another friend also utilizing the same configuration as mine.

Thank you for your support.

Win 7 64.
ATI 5970 Eyefinity 6 Card
6048x1200 Resoultion.
Widescreen Fixer is in its own new fresh directory.
Attempted to launch in administrator mode as well.
All other instances of Widescreen Fixer are closed and deleted.

Maybe there is some error on the link or else I am not navigating to the correct website anymore. Regardless, could someone verify that it's not just me having this issue and/or tell me where I can get the current version? Thanks as always for the hard work on the Fixer!

Just refresh the page and click the download link again. Your browser cached the page from the last time you visited it (which it shouldn't since I set an expire time for the page). Just refresh the page and it will generate a new link.

Widescreen Fixer does nothing to set your game resolution. All it does it center the HUD for this game. Set the multi-monitor resolution in the game's graphic settings.

With the fix active, it's great, centered hud and dialogs so I dont have to get whiplash working the AH. However, it limits my chat windows to the center as well and I'd rather have those spread out on my left monitor. Is there any way to override the HUD width for the chat windows?

Yeah, wait for patch 1.2 lol
I know what you mean about the GTN - doing anything that requires two windows at once (cargo hold, workbench, crafting, etc) requires you to look at the two extreme edges of my 6000 pixel wide desktop! And if a crew mission completes whilst you've got windows open - if I'm lucky then one of them simply closes. If I'm not then I'm faced with windows leaping from one extreme edge to the other... ouch!

On a different note, does anybody else suffer from poor FPS in 2D surround after coming out of the galaxy map? I can get FPS in the 100s when running around the ship but simply clicking into the map and travelling somewhere, when I exit the map the FPS tanks to about 30. It has always happened for me and I was just wondering if it's a know (fixed!) problem that I've simply missed the solution for!

This fix doesn't work with Triplehead2Go? I tried auto-resolution and manually setting but they are not moving.

I guess with patch 1.2 anyone can move the hud where they want so this fix will be kind of obsolete, right?

edit: I got it working. Wrong settings.

I used to have this issue during the first monthor so of the game. I used to fix it by alt tabbing out of the game and back in. Then I messed around with graphics settings ingame until I found the right settings to make this go away for good. Running with V-synch enabled ingame, shadows turned off and shaders set to low made the issue go away. May or may not work for you.

There are a couple recommended ways to fix this but for the life of me I can't find where I came across them. I think one fix mentioned opening the galaxy map again but just leaving it open for 10 seconds or something without doing anything else and the fps will recover.

Cheers Ryukan! Knocking my shader quality down one level has fixed it for me and I haven't really noticed much of a difference.

I don't remember this being a problem in the beta, so they must have done something in a later update. I reported it in-game but they just gave me a standard reply that didn't even make sense. Oh well...

Woohoo! Patch 1.2 seems to have solved the problem at last! I've got everything back at maximum (including the new character textures), VSync off, and I can maintain 100fps+ all over my ship. Before the patch this would drop as low as 29fps after a hyperspace journey so finally I can play uninterrupted without having to switch back and forth from my desktop to 'reset' the graphics... :)

I just picked up this game.

Playing at 3600x1920 or 3880x1920 bezel corrected.
By default the game has the hud all on the left most monitor. That doesn't seem right.
I picked up the latest widescreen fixer but SW:TOR wasn't available. I found it in the Obsolete plugins.
So should it not be necessary?
I am a bit confused about this.

Hey there:) In SWTOR you can now use the in-game Interface Editor function to simply position your elements on screen:)

I tried that but I can't drag the windows to the middle or right hand screens. They get stuck at the edge of the left screen.

No one else has this issue with Nvidia Surround?

Figure out how to drag a window across to a screen? Yep I have come across that functionality before.
I can move the UI elements around inside the left screen, just not across from the left screen to the other screens. So if I wanted the HUD all on the left screen that would be perfect but I don't, want it centred.

I did have it working once, I think I was in Window mode that time - I normally play in Fullscreen.

There is something definitively wrong there... So basically you are saying your whole UI is stuck on the left screen only???

There is something definitively wrong there... So basically you are saying your whole UI is stuck on the left screen only???

Yes, that is correct. The game world displays across the 3 screens in surround but the UI is stuck on the left and can't be dragged across to the other two screens.

The more I think about it it might be a Fullscreen versus Windowed Mode thing. Will test it out when I get a chance.

Okay, all fixed.
If I start in Fullscreen the UI is confined to the left most monitor and can't be moved.

If I then change the setting to Fullscreen(Window) or to Windowed mode the UI spreads out to cover all three monitors. I can then go back to Fullscreen and the UI stays centred.

I'm having an ongoing issue with SWTOR and Eyefinity. This issue happened before, and I was able to resolve it by deleting the client_settings.ini file. However that's not working anymore.

The problem is that the UI and environments display under the correct aspect ratio, but the characters appear stretched. (See Screenshot.)

Flawless Widescreen doesn't seem to have a plugin for SWTOR.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Set the Same Resolution both in Windows and the Game.

That is already the case. I've also deleted the .ini file. And tried manually editing the config file.
